Secure Storage in La Paz?

Bajatripper - 2-23-2013 at 01:54 PM

This has probably been covered a hundred times before, but I never noticed since I didn't have a need. That will be changing in the next year or so.

Does anyone know of a secure storage facility in La Paz? Better yet, how about prices?

Thanks

Before finding Loreto, I spent time down in the La Paz area on my vacations. I stored my RV at this place and at the time, it was very reasonable. Nice people, I think Jim is Canadian and it was very secure. It is located just a few minutes from the airport and they use to pick me up and drop me off. I don't remember what I paid but it was 7-10 years ago so the prices I assumed have changed. Good people and easy to deal with.

Is that the place where everybody's stuff got flooded during a hurricane a few years ago?

I don't know as I have not stored anything there in at least
7 -10 years.

Yes this is the same place that was hit by a flood but I wouldn't let that deter you. I understood it was because a dam broke up in the mountains so it was pretty much a freak occurance. I also think the place has been re-enforced during the rebuilding.

I had my boat stored there at the time of the flood but thanks to the great people here on Nomads (longlegsinlapaz and BajaBruno) I had a complete report (with pictures) on the staus of my boat within less than 4 hours of the incident. The only damage I experienced was the trailer jack needed to be replaced. Mud had gotten into the mechanism and dried as solid as concrete.

The last time I talked to them I learned that Jim and Gloria sold the place but the new owners seem equally as nice and helpful. They live on the property and it is the only place I know that I would recommend.

Hey, Mitch, long time, no see.

Don't know when since I came up here to find employment and sponsor my Mexican family's immigration up here to beautiful Washington State. I figure once I get re-integrated into the rat race time off will be at a premium. But I'll let you know, it's my turn to sponsor a dinner get-together, which I meant to do before leaving...but you know how that goes.

We' ve looked into this place and For the most part the subject property appears to be satisfactory . It is convenient if you are flying in and out and they will pick you up at the airport and deliver you to your car ,RV Truck whatever at the storage place.it has mini storage , RV and boat car ports . Also , they have other services such as car washing ,battery charging. Etc......

Our friends left the storage area because they didn't feel good about the changes that were taking place and billing inconsistencies. If you don't live there you'd give a credit card to Them . There is a surcharge for using the CC and there is a IVA Tax of 11% . Make sure you understand the total cost prior to signing up . One more thing , I understand that the place is for sale and a need to raise the revenue base in order to sell it at a higher price may be in play .

Caveat : renters beware and good luck
