"Just in time to get indie-music heads revved up and anticipating the NRMAL music festival, which features our very own María y José, is Tony Tee's NRML showcase in Tijuana. His musical lineup represents a seamless mashup of hip-hop, Ruidosón and alternative that will guarantee an audio trip.

Tony Tee's pickings inadvertently represent important music-making regions: Venus X (NYC), the Purple Bastard (Houston by way of L.A.), María y José (Tijuana) and Sixties Guns (Tijuana).

"[NRMAL] asked me to make it a showcase for its upcoming fest in Monterrey," Tony Tee said. "Purple Bastard is working with Tijuana-based band Sixties Guns, and I love his hip-hop remixes, so we threw him on there as well. I guess it just happened that there is East Coast and West Coast talent on there."

If you don't know who Tony Tee is, then you don't know the Tijuana music scene - he's been throwing shows since 2006. He might even love Tijuana more than Bostich + Fussible. In fact, he was the go-to guy who gave Anthony Bourdain a tour while visiting Baja for his show No Reservations. Do you know how hard it is to get national TV coverage of Tijuana? Only Tony Tee knows. He jokes he must have sent Bourdain's people numerous e-mail requests to visit the awesomeness of Tijuana. Now, that's reppin' your city to the fullest.

Highly anticipated is the fireworks show to celebrate the Ruidosón prince, Tony Gallardo's (María y José) participation in NRMAL, northern Mexico's most important indie music festival. The showcase in Tijuana is free to those who RSVP, but space is limited. Tony Tee is doing the rave-style protocol: location to be announced."
