Has anybody brought a surfboard/bag on the Volaris shuttle bus from TJ airport to San Diego (and/or the return trip from SD to Tijuana?
Or anyone who's taken the Volaris shuttle from TJ airport- did it look like there would be a place to put a surfboard bag on the bus?
Is the shuttle a bus or a small van?

I traveled with a board on the shuttle heading south and they had space underneath. Just make sure they don't launch heavy bags on top of it.

Yes, I've taken the Volaris shuttle bus from the TJ airport to downtown SD a few times. The last time was two years ago. Both times I had a 4 board
coffin 7 ft long and didn't have any issues. The last time I did it there was another surfer on the flight with a similar sized bag and he had no
problems either.

Might be a problem with a longboard. Only if the luggage bay is really full and they can't lay it in diagonally. Maybe not an issue for you, but would
be for me.

If the flight leaves TJ airport at 12:15pm, how early do we need to catch the shuttle from Santa Fe Depot in San Diego to arrive in time for the
flight?
There is a 6:00 am shuttle and and 8:00 am. Will we make it in time on the 8:00 am shuttle?

We decided not to bring surfboards on our trip from La Paz to TJ on Volaris- luckily.
The 1st leg of the trip on the Volaris shuttle from the TJ airport was a van and it was just the 2 of us with plenty of room. The van dropped us off
at the Otay Mesa crossing and we walked thru the border check and it was just a couple of blocks to the other side.
The next vehicle that picked us up on the US side was a larger tourist-type bus and had lots of room and he took us to the Depot in San Diego. Again
just the 2 of us.
But on the return from San Diego to TJ is where it got sketchy. The 6:00 am shuttle was an 8-passenger van with 9 passengers and a baby and they had
to put all the luggage on the roof rack. If we had boards we would have been S.o.l and probably would have missed our flight. Also, they dropped us
off on the US side and it's a bit of a hike to walk to the border entrance- with surfboards and luggage it would have been do-able but not very fun.
From Otay Mesa to the Tj airport they had another small tourist bus so there was plenty of room.
So I'd say it's hit or miss transporting surfboards on the Volaris shuttle and I'd suggest having a back up plan if you do.
