Coyote Bay sunrise/moonrise (collection)

Pompano - 3-5-2013 at 01:39 PM

Sunrises at Coyote Bay. My favorite time of day in my favorite place.

Note: Bear with me. Due to Photobucket's changes/fiasco it might take me some time to upload all of my Coyote sunrises for the last 37 years.

Here's one.

And another.

I'd like to introduce my dog, Mystery.

..and yet another sunrise.

A Valentine Sunrise.

They all are great, Roger, but I especially relate to the sunrise with the palm on the right (#4 in first post) as a "real old time Baja" scene from my many camps on the SOC------looks like a shot from Ray Cannon's era.

Thank you,

Barry

Roger, make separate albums (or sub-albums) on Photobucket... that's how I find my photos faster... even with the changes. I never knew of (or used) 'search' to find my pictures. I did put everything into my main album at first, but it became harder and harder to find a photo quickly (after 500 photos in there) to post here on Nomad. When I started scanning a lot of maps, then I made a map folder, and withing it are sub-folders for different maps (by year, area, or maker). My trip photo folders are labeled by the date of the trip: '709' means July, 2009 Baja trip.

I wish you well in getting it figured out, as your photos are one of the highlights here to many of us Nomads!

Pompano - 3-5-2013 at 06:44 PM

Thanks David, making albums and subalbums on Photobucket is a good idea, and I have been doing that for a few years now. I have 11,074 photos to date on Photobucket, and divided into 43 albums and sub-albums, plus I have titled and tagged each with it's own identily and subject.

It's still almost impossible with Photobucket's current lack of a private search function to find one particular photo....like 'My Room at BajaCactus' or 'Co-Pilot in the Moonlit Bay'.....but I won't give up just yet!

I feel a little like Chief Dan George's old Indian character in the movie "The Outlaw Josie Wales" when he was told by the clueless Secretary of the Interior that he should .... 'Endeavor to persevere."

I shall endeavor, too. If I have any success, I will reveal it to the Nomad public. If not, then I will declare war...like the Indians.

And with that, here's another Coyote Bay sunrise...with a weather warning.

OK Roger, in the meantime, did you see my step by step for reducing your new photos on Photobucket to 800 pixels..?

It is more steps, but it goes by in a flash... You see all the maps and photos I have added since Photobucket changed, and they are all reduced to fit Nomad.

1) As soon as you upload from your PC to Photobucket and go to the album the new picture is in, place your mouse arrow on that pic (thumbnail pic).

2) A little menu will appear, click Edit. A new window will open, takes a couple seconds and click Resize at the top row of edit choices.

3) The width and height in pixels are the two numbers, and the first (width) will be highlighted so all you do is type in 800 (or a smaller number). The other number (height) automatically adjusts to match the ratio correctly (that's what the padlock symbol between the numbers insures).

4) Click Apply.

5) Check the box 'replace original' and click Save.

Now, as before copy the IMG code and past that directly on the Nomad posting area.

Some people can tell what time it is by looking at the sun.

But I have never been able to make out the numbers.

sargentodiaz - 3-7-2013 at 06:34 PM

Lord but I would love to be there!

Udo - 3-7-2013 at 07:03 PM

You should be getting some great sunset shots from the house in BA, Roger!

I have a few hundred already!

That I will, Udo...soon.

Then I'll gladly compare them with some from Coyote..as with this pre-sunrise one while heading out to fish the reefs just past Pt. Conception dead ahead. (False Dawn)

Tally Ho! The games afoot!

I love sunrises....and boats.

Pompano - 3-8-2013 at 06:11 PM

Here's one waiting patiently at anchor.

Sunrise at Coyote Bay from my neighbor, Jake's, casa.

He always had the most spectacular view of the Bay.

Here's the proof...

Pompano - 3-11-2013 at 08:50 AM

I'm a fisherman, and so I've seen many, many sunrises at sea. This one is a favorite and shows a couple of Mulege buddies working a sunrise yellowtail. (RIP Bart)

Inspiring! Time to head south.

htnfool - 3-11-2013 at 02:18 PM

Roger,

I just had dinner with Pier at the old house. Still brings back great memories of you. The place is just as if you were there, perhaps a bit quieter...

We all miss you and wish you the best. Hope one day you can come back to your baja home and take more pics of its surreal beauty.

Another cool pic of 'OBJ'-John Dinning with another Yellowtail. DAmn that guy rocks the fish.

Many thanks Scott,

Yes, I know Pier well, and am positive the old casa will always be hosting some nice dinners. Great times, and I did have a little practice over the years. Maybe I will pass that way again, but meantime there are many other Bajas to explore and the clock is ticking...I'm going to put the time to good use. I know a place where the snook go over 40 lbs and the tarpon just plain wear you out. Offshore is pure heaven on earth. ...and then there's Canada waiting in the wings...

Ah, my Coyote Bay. Pier called the other day and we visited about Coyote Bay happenings and the very sad news about our mutual friend, Wendy. Lo siento, Ed. One of the many reasons I left my old Baja home behind...I was beginning to feel like I was one of the Last of the Mohicans from my arrival so many years ago. Amigo attrition rates accelerating so much lately. I just lost my lifelong compadre who came to Baja often, and will be at his memorial in a few days. Cannot tell you how much he will be missed.

Well, on to a happier note....

Hey Scott, Pier also wondered if he should play poker with you?

I told him only if he needs some quick cash.

Just kidding, my young friend, you have raked in lots of my chips....and speaking of OBJ on those yellowtail, you're no slouch on fishing the SOC yourself. Pump and reel, amigo, pump and reel.

Now get ready, cuz we'll be on 'em in a second...!

Coyote Bay euforia. Can you feel yourself relaxing?

Pompano - 3-12-2013 at 04:35 PM

Well, I hope so...cuz that's the last one I'm posting. Too damn hard to find them on Photobucket. It's c-cktail-thirty. Ciao.

[Edited on 3-12-2013 by Pompano]

How about a nice Moonrise instead!

Pompano - 12-1-2013 at 12:01 PM

Baja nights are always magical!

Opps...forgot a favorite one.

OUTSTANDING PHOTOS, ROGER! I think I will start my own album of YOUR photos. Keep them coming.

Pompano - 12-1-2013 at 12:34 PM

Thanks, Vince. I am having fun restoring a ton of photos into certain category albums on Photobucket.com. My posting is by way of succeeding (slowly) in this endeavor. You'd be surprised at what great old Baja and Coyote Bay photos I am discovering....

A Pastel Sunset at Coyote

Sunsets? The mountains to the west are not helpful. But sometimes the clouds will gift you with a colorful sky.
