Well, so far the dust seems to be settling from the evenings battles. But, it's early
Something was said regarding the way certain children were being treated in the advisory thread last night that struck a nerve with me.
I have seen similar incidents plenty down here and it generally stems from alcohol but not always.
I have been having another discussion on here regarding education and parenting so it all seems to be tieing together.
Last night, in between the war, I was getting to know our new next door neighbors around the campfire. They are Mexican Americans from first Texas
and then California.
He is a vietnam vet and was telling me how after being in Vietnam he visited the south where he was refused service in restaurants because he has
brown skin.
But, this isn't about that. Just some background on a really nice guy.
Here's what it's about. When they lived in Texas, he had a 19 year old daughter who partied in Mexico. They all did as it was right next door.
Until one time, she didn't come home. And after major investigation, nightmares, mordida, etc. they found out that she had been killed. In a car
that burned. So there were no remains to be returned to the states because so much time had elapsed.
He has accepted this now and can talk about it although not without tears in all of our eyes.
The next time one of you has the urge to treat your children in a matter that was mentioned in the other thread, you might give this some thought.
And, don't ever let me catch anyone treating your children that way down here! And I am serious about that !
