Hotel No. of Gro Negro?

fudscrud - 3-21-2013 at 03:42 PM

Hey guys, I'm looking for someplace to lay my head (besides a bar top) north of Gro Negro, eg; Villa Jesus Maria, Sta Rosalillita or Pto.
San Andres.
Is there anything in those places?
Thanks in advance

there's always worse than a bar top!

Good one...I would prefer a hotel though.

Remember, slightly north of Jesús Maria, no powerlines. To me paying 150+ pesos for doghouse accommodation is a poor value. The beds have 104 springs. Exactly. COUNT 'EM.

Trying to cross northbound in 1-day's drive from somewhere? Or make it ex max distancia southbound, the 1st day?

Just trying to break up two days ride more evenly. Tortugas>Malarrimo>Gro Negro>up the coast to Catavina. Somewhere around Sta Rosalillita or San Andres would be ideal. The whole run in a day would be easy on the main roads but this will be all dirt and not in a big hurry since riding solo.

Sta Rosalinda does have a small hotel. Sheri likes it, and reviewed it a while ago. Also remembering something about a place Rosaritio just before the turn off to Sta Rosalillita.
We used also have dropped into Bat of LA for the night. Kinda out of the way but is always good.

yup...we really like Hotel Maru...beside the store at Sta.Rosalillita...only 10 minutes off the highway...super quiet, 350 pesos, very comfy bed, clean, good shower, beach right there for a nice walk...no restaurant though so bring food...tell em Shari & Juan from Asuncion sent ya.

I agree with Shari...

You'll die with the DROP DEAD GORGEOUS views in the area.

On drive north from San Ignacio lagoon this month we stayed in a small hotel in Jesus Maria, on west side of hiway, next to their "Community Meeting Hall."

Can't recall name... there is a whale mural on the north side wall. Only 3 or 4 rooms. We were referred to one of the owners who works at the small shop south end of the Pemex station (station is near north end of town).

We talked with her at closing, she referred us to hotel, her son (?) in the house behind showed us a big room for $300 pesos. Plenty of room for all the gear we didn't want to leave in the truck, 2 queen beds, reasonably clean. Hot water, cable... we fell asleep before checking out the stations.

A bit loud since it's right on the hiway, but not a lot of traffic on Sunday night. We slept well, were up before sunrise to continue north to have breakfast near Catavina.

Fudscrud,

Here's another spot for you north of Jesus Maria...a café and plain motel called La Cienega. For info and pics please read this report I made on the café part in May of 2012. Good luck wherever you bed down.

La Cienega is near Rosarito then?
Added to the list, thanks Pompano

Also just a mile or so north of La Cienega, Mauricio's Restaurant has a few rooms that I found to be clean and perfectly adequate. 300 pesos last year.

Hah! We're playing musical threads! Fun stuff...

Sounds like it is Rosarito (or Nuevo Rosarito, if you either think that is a different town or just a alternate name for the same town so you aren't confusing it with the city near Tijuana)!!??
