We have friends visiting in La Paz. Are there any whales left in PLM?

I was there last Saturday and there were still lots of "frendlies". Get there early before the wind whips up.........

Great minds......
My daughter is flying in today and I, too, was thinking about a trip to Lopez to bid the last of the grays adieu.
The forecast is for calm in the estero until late afternoon both Sunday and Monday .
Maybe we'll see you over there.

Went to Lopez Mateos for the 1st time last week (3/13). Many mother/baby pairs inside the estero. While not the expansive experience of Laguna San
Ignacio with whales as far as the eye can see, in the more condensed environment inside the channel, the thrill was about the same.
And what a mellow, relaxing time we had- sitting in the warm sun eating tacos after the boat trip felt like we needed a nap before driving home!
As Loretana mentioned, this is the howling wind time of year in these parts. So we watched the weather forecasts and tried to choose a day without
nuclear winds predicted. But here's a tip: If there's no wind this time of year it can also mean thick fog. We got near the Puerto nice and early in
the morning but it was socked-in, pea-soup conditions so we waited until about 10:00 to head out and the fog hung just outside the barrier island over
the ocean and it was nice and sunny for avistamento.

Saw some whale heading back to Alaska from the Oceanside pier on Friday.

If you're planning to go to Lopez Mateos/Bahia Mag this year you might want to get moving. Yesterday several mothers and babies swam by the casa. It
was the first day this year to see babies off the beach and to see them so close to shore. We're about 70 miles North of Lopez Mateos. It looks like
the pairs from the South are starting to travel.
