Anyone have suggestions/advice on what needs to be arranged for a hike up this stratovolcano? What to see, recommended guides, time required, winter
temps, pitfalls? Thanks.

Frigatebird,
Although I can't help you with any details, I will say that I am following this thread closely as I am planning to make an attempt while in the region
in Dec/Jan. Good luck.

In ejido Bonfil you can get a guide to climb that mountain ( ask for Mr Ramon Arce), but you MUST ask for information and authorization to climb that
volcano at the Estaci?n Biol?gica de la Reserva de El Vizca?no in Guerrero Negro, you do need authorization since the volcano is part of a biological
reserve under the federal goverment.

JESSE I concur but all the hassle is worth it . every hindered feet you go up in elevation you see different plants and animals. take good camera and
lots of film.
Thanks JESSE

for the heads up. I'd hate to upset both Vulcan and the Mexican authorities.
Edevart, maybe I'll see you up there. I would like to go toward the end of the year as well or perhaps in the spring. Either way, may the first of
us post a report for those that follow.

Suggest reading Graham Mackintosh's first book, 'Into a Desert Place' http://grahammackintosh.com as that was one of the few places he left the coastline on his walk around Baja.

Walt Peterson in the Baja Adventure Guide covers this class 2 or 3 hike. He suggests 2 days for the hike and carry water. Altitude is 6299 ft with
lots of traversing. Mountain is visible from Guaymas and San Carlos across the SOC. I had an opportunity to climb it last year with some folks from
San Ignacio, but was enjoying myself far too much in La Paz. ?Qu? l?stima!

Hello Jr. that is the reason I say take camera and lots of film . because when I was on Tres Virgins I had a camera malfunction and got nothing .I was
so disappointed I cried
