Dedicated to the Baja Canadians...

EnsenadaDr - 4-4-2013 at 12:49 AM

The Baja Canadians have been taking a beating lately on this board but I want to remind all of the other Baja Americans that some great talents came out of Canada that affected our culture back in the day and here is one...

Que lastima ! The Mexicans would likely do well with curling....they are very experienced sweepers :light:

shari - 4-4-2013 at 10:35 AM

I assume you are kidding around, but that is
a bit of an EXAGERATION. Most everyone takes
their turn in the barrel, all in fun, I didn't see anything
malicious, unless I missed something. They represent a good % of Baja travellers.
Canada is one of the few friends we/US have

neilm81301 - 4-4-2013 at 11:31 AM

Lots to be proud of.. And good priorities! I'd sure put the wonderbra right up there with the pacemaker! <G>

It is easy to take criticism when you know you are extremely fortunate.

Don't see the tongue in cheek thingy here.

Think you're trying to provoke a feud.

Rowdy 2 fisted drinking Canadians are a force to be reckoned with.

Let sleeping dogs lie.

vandenberg - 4-4-2013 at 02:18 PM

My immediate family live in St Kitts, Ontario.
You should hear what they think of Californians.
They think we all are stoned in perpetuity, with our pants hanging below the knees and tattoos from head to toe. Not to mention the tongue and nose rings and girls with their goodies hanging out.:biggrin:

And, when it comes to boozing, they can hold their own, guaranteed.

Yep....those two items are generally placed below the chin and above the navel

...And Shari is one of the best Canadian imports in Baja :saint:

Canada is a great place to be from and to be in....only downside really is that "THE" Baja is two days steady driving south....and that's just to the first taco stand.

vgabndo - 4-4-2013 at 03:38 PM

Without the invention of the propeller, the world would likely be a different place. But, what really distinguishes Canadians as a thoughtful levelheaded nation is the fact that they have so thoroughly adopted the Robertson square recessed drive screw system. IMJ it is as superior to a Phillips as the Phillips was to a pin*he slot! Yet, they're still a specialty item in the States.

Thanks you guys, eh?

Oh, and a special thanks for another 70 something Canadian; Leonard Cohen.

Timo...trade ya abalone for salmon
Ateo...nice going on winning some brownie points for your next visit dude!
Ged... you're just saying that so you'll get a discount next time...cheapo canucks eh!:saint:

Leonard Cohen, indeed!

Maple butter from Canada????....my Auntie from Vermont sent me some for Christmas!

My Canadian Auntie was telling me how the "seniors " are going into the public schools in Alberta to teach the youngsters how to curl....guess they want to keep that sport alive!

My favorite Canadian..

What would americans do without the zipper , basketball , or fiber optics

DianaT - 4-5-2013 at 08:01 AM

Canadians or Americans?

Some of them are the most generous people in the world.
Some of them worship Ayan Rand and are only out to better their own position.
Some of them are extremely cheap.
Some of them are religious fanatics.
Some of them are very tolerant people.
Some of them love diversity.
Some of them complain about current immigration.
Which country worships gladiator type sports where people are permantly injured.
Which country was involved in taking away the rights of their citizens of Japanese heritage and locking them up during WW II.
Which country has some of the nastiest border guards anywhere.
Which country has had musicians who made a fortune singing several different songs that all sounded the same.

The list could go on and on ---- but yep, it is BOTH countries. Good and not so good among the people from both countries. But Canada was smart enough to institute a a really good health care system, but some there are trying to get rid of it!

Tis always a bit silly to say the people of any country are better than the people of another country --- it just ain't so.

One ?, a couple words used by our amigos to the
no., describing their fellow countrymen is Hosers,
I'm treading lightly here, beacuse I don't know if
that word is offensive,
I would imagine that being a US Gringo, that
term would not be in my vocabulary, unless I
had a close Canadian friend? Another one that
took a little adjusting to is getting Pi$$ed, referring
to drinking a bit to much

Timo1 - 4-5-2013 at 12:36 PM

Sancho

When I lived in california the word Pi$$ed meant drunk to me

Took a while to get used to it meaning mad

And no one in Canada calls each other a hoser

That came from that really low rate movie from the Mckenzie Brothers

Are you a hoser?

windgrrl - 4-5-2013 at 01:39 PM

http://theinventionofcanada.wikispaces.com/The+Hosers

...you don't hear hoser used much anymore, but Buddy is, for some reason more often used to refer to a child these days than a to a hoser. Both are kind of down east terms, like from these dudes, eh:

Yeah, and Canada was kind enough to open their doors to US draft dodgers afraid to be in the US military -- when these cowards should have been in jail doing hard time.

Bring back the Draft! God Bless Our Troops!

For the record, Shari is MY favorite Canadian.

Russ - 4-5-2013 at 02:30 PM

I'm a VietVet and the whole time I was reading this I was thinking how fortunate we are to have a good neighbor when we have issues with our own government to go cool off after a good march.

wessongroup - 4-5-2013 at 02:36 PM

The Canucks that I have had the pleasure in meeting in my life, were overall, a great bunch of folks :):)

DavidE - 4-5-2013 at 06:44 PM

I still find it curious the animosity between Brit Canadians and Quebecois. A bit more heated than Yankee versus Reb. Or Aussies vs. Kiwis. Curious, what?

redmesa - 4-6-2013 at 07:29 AM

You have to be canadian to understand our love hate relationship with quebec.

aguachico - 4-6-2013 at 07:48 AM

... and the Canadians saved the early American's butts against the British. A huge turning point.

Not all Canadians end every sentence with "eh?' Some of them start sentences that way....
