Got in line at 8:30 am, passed the CBP checkpoint at 10:28 am.
No hassles, no drama, just the wait.
Struck up a conversation with a local who was dragging a heavy duty trailer and he is interested in helping us get our sick Kohler generator to the
repair facility in San Diego (this is after several attempts by Baja mechanics have failed and, they have been, of course, expensive).
My only complaint is the lack of churros vendors and, oddly enough, no coffee vendors. If you want tostilocos, tejuino, avena, sodas, ensalada de
fruita, nieves, birria, burros, one day auto insurance coverage, they have got you covered.
But come on, who amongst us doesn't lust at times for a fresh, delicious sugary stick of fried dough?
Mija's trip from OC to the Amtrak station downtown SD took longer than our travel from home, over the border and trip to the station.
Some deranged crackhead (allegedly) was playing chicken with the trains, so everything stopped until the police chased him down and took him away.
Ya see, Baja is a nice, quiet, normal place to live

My first experience at the same READY-LANE was 3 hour 40 minutes.
So much for a faster crossing by having the proper ID.

That Otay Ready Lane is going to be the death of the whole project. It has morphed into a monster.
When they figure they've sold as many passport cards as possible, they'll scrap the Ready Lanes.
