Lake Chapala to Alfonsino's/Gonzaga Bay road report

Driving next week to Mexicali for the NORRA race from San Jose and would like a road report for the Lake Chapala / Gonzaga Bay road. We will take our race cars off the trailers for the transit over the dirt, so our trailers will be light. What is the condition of the road ---5 mph washboard, or 40 mph washboard? Big rocks and washouts, or just a long time since the dirt has been kissed by a grader? Really would like to by-pass the Pacific side traffic and topes......We are cars 150 and 153. Come by and say hello. Thanks. Paul

I drove it a month ago....rough, rocky areas in the mountains with a number of road washed out, not entirely but to one side or another so be careful....definitely not 40 mph washboard. From Coco's on, the road was in pretty good shape. Hope this helps.

Went through that section in mid March this year. Two dirtbikes and chase vehicle. Our chase was a 2004 F250 extended cab pulling a single axle 16-ft landscaping trailer. He left Coco's for Chapala a few minutes before us bikes and I was surprised how long it took us to catch him. Our chase was able to do 30mph most of the time. He did air down though.
