Anyone drove Mulege to La Ballena turnoff north of Cadaje recently?
Just checking.

82 miles point to point...slow going faint 2 track at times over the boulders and thru the mountains...majority of the trail in the wash that has a
million rocks chez the dirt has been washed away...I do it a couple times a year to say hey to the rancheros...they love the Gouda cheese, snickers
bar and an ice cold coke...

Thanks Desertbull. Yes, that was my impression a few years ago. SOme beautiful country back there and I'm sure those rancheros love the gifts!
Thanks.

Last April we went eastbound from La Ballena up to San Miguel, then turned north to the ruins of Guadalupe, eventually coming out through San Jose de
Magdelena and out to Mex 1 just south of San Bruno. We were in two Toyota FJ60 Landcruisers. As Desertbull says, very slow going, lots of arroyo
boulderfield driving, and the Pie de la Cuesta is not for the faint-of-heart. Very steep. I imagine last years hurricane made the route even worse,
and possibly impassable (for vehicles anyhow) on the western side. One of these days I'll file a trip report . . .
