First Attempt to Post Photo - Guess Location

Correcamino - 4-22-2013 at 01:59 PM

New member, just trying out photo post so it may not work. If it does, check out my Baja dream cruiser I've been saving up for for the last twenty years (really!). And see if you can name the location!

Howard - 4-22-2013 at 02:01 PM

You are my hero, a newbie and posted a picture, wow!

Second Attempt @ Photo Post

Correcamino - 4-22-2013 at 02:03 PM

Oops Looks like photo came through but source was wrong size. I'll try another:

Correcamino - 4-22-2013 at 02:06 PM

There's my honey, doin' what I bought her for. Ay cabron, so much Baja!

David K - 4-22-2013 at 10:05 PM

Welcome to Nomad, and thank you for making an effort to have your photo no wider than the page (800 pixels)! :bounce::bounce::bounce:

Looks like a great location that is away from it all! Gee, I wish I could guess where... but perhaps along the gulf side, midway south? If I could see more of that island, then maybe???

wessongroup - 4-22-2013 at 10:47 PM

Good show, posting with pic's out of the box ..... thanks

Calamajue?

Guess the Location, Reverse Angle

Correcamino - 4-22-2013 at 11:25 PM

Yeah, that was a photo with little detail to help with location. Sorry. Here's a reverse angle shooting straight south. Help at all?

ecomujeres - 4-23-2013 at 12:26 AM

Reminds me of the one time we visited north of El Sargento/La Ventana southeast of La Paz. Beautiful where ever it is. Congrats on getting the PC to work for you.

The last beach at the very end of the dirt road north of El Sargento/La Ventana.

(Oops - the secret's out)

Correcamino: Nice Ride!

DK: The island? Cerralvo.

Ecomujeres: Great memory.

It could have been the north tip of Isla Angel de la Guarda as seen from Punta Candelero (end of Arroyo los Candeleros). The kids and I camped there once about 10 years ago... what a great drive in a colorful canyon to get there, on a good road that still isn't on maps!

My only two photos from that rocky beach:

Correcamino - 4-23-2013 at 11:58 AM

Sorry, DavidK, but RnR and Ecomujeres got it exactly right - to my astonishment!!! Dayum, you guys are too good!! I guess I'll have to be far more devious to fool you nomads at this game. I was just about to post this photo, which gives a more familiar view of Cerralvo (or Isla Jacques Cousteau, if you're from the MX Gobierno). Thanks un millon for the comments and guesses, amigos.

David K - 4-23-2013 at 12:19 PM

Nothing to be sorry for. I am just happy you got the photo posting figured out! I just guessed at a place where a rocky beach and the north tip of a big island may be.

Barry A. - 4-23-2013 at 12:30 PM

Ha!!!! I have that exact vehicle, only an older 2007 model. Mine is white, and even has a Yakima Sky Box on top, like yours & same color box. I made mine even better using CALMINI add-a-leafs in back, and LOAD LEVELERS in front-------rides like a dream when loaded (a little stiff when empty), and now never bottoms out like it did with stock suspension. Also, it is now about 2-1/2 inches higher with the beefed up suspension. Mine is the OFF-ROAD model with Bilstein Shocks stock, etc...

Looking good on a Baja Beach-----nothing better than that. Welcome to NOMADS.

I only have 38K on it, but quite a bit of rough-road action. The "X" has held up really well with no major breakdowns, and it has never let me down in the boonies (yet). I do like it a lot.

The Frontier pickup is basically the same vehicle, I understand. Rumor has it that the "X" is history for 2013, but Nissan appears to have a lot of 2012 models still available. The Nissan website is being cagey about the subject, and I cannot get our local dealer to admit anything about the future of the "X" model. All the evidence suggests that the "X" is history, tho. That is a shame.

Correcamino love the name....is it...roadrunner?

[Edited on 4-23-2013 by 24baja]

Si, 24baja, yo soy El Roadrunner

Correcamino - 4-23-2013 at 04:14 PM

24baja: Si, tu tienes razon! Geococcyx Californianus, or greater roadrunner. I'm not showing off with the latin name, I had to learn it to look up images on the internet so I could paint a roadrunner sign to mark my friend's property; if I typed in "Roadrunner" I mostly got an old Plymouth muscle car or a Warner Brothers cartoon character ("meep meep!"). I fell in love with these guys camping in the desert. If you sit totally still they will often come into camp and pick through every last object in your area, eyeballing shiny or colorful gear. When I was young I used to chase them to see if I could run them down - I could, easily! But they would cheat and fly away (they can fly for about 100 yards at low altitude). Now they beat me easily (sigh). If you're coming into La Ventana, SE of La Paz, look to your right just before you get into "town" and you'll see my "artwork" on a telephone pole:

Not "too good", just a local.

I walk (or run) my dogs on that beach probably 4 days out of 7. Never get tired of the view or the feeling of remoteness of that beach.

Maybe I should have recused myself ????

PS - Noticed your signs on the pole a couple of weeks ago. Nice.
