EDR Road Map

bajamedic - 4-23-2013 at 04:42 PM

Is there an official El Dorado Ranch road map? I have found the EDR subdivision overview map, but nothing that actually shows the road names. Also, my next trip will probably include my RV and it will not fit through the normal Mexicali border crossing lanes that I used last time, my RV is 8’6” wide and 12’6” high and I do not recall seeing any truck route signs, any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Mexicali East is where the commercial traffic goes, I do believe?

Yes, Mexicali East is the crossing to use with your RV...it is the truck entrance border.
I've never seen a road map to El Dorado with street names on it at all...only the map with the neighborhoods numbered by sections..Most people when giving their address just say which neighborhood they are in and then give their street number and lot number....Example: I'm in Los Medanos North...then give the street number and lot number...at the El Dorado offices they use section number-street number-lot number to identify places....also, in some areas the streets have not been named. Are you looking for a particular place?

I crossed every border crossing from Mexical to Tijuana in my 36ft long 12.6 high 8.6 wide Diesel pusher never had any trouble some of the older ones were tight but doable. used to go down to San Felepi and Loreto before I moved down here full time. I traded the M.H. for the house I now live in to a couple that used it as tour guides all over Mexico

I'm not aware of anything "official", although I think Security and/or the HOA office may have books of subdivision maps with the road names (so they can direct people).

Openstreetmap is a crowd-sourced (like Wikipedia) street map for the the world, that makes it easy to add/correct street routes and names. A couple of times in the past few months I've added some EDR street routes (there's a Bing satellite layer that can be traced from, or GPS traces can be used). I've also added some street names, as shown on the actual signs (which may or not be accurate!).

But I've only done this for a tiny part of El Dorado Ranch so far: Rancho del Sol III, and a corner of Palos Verdes Sur. If enough others at EDR map their areas (it's quite easy), especially adding the street names, it could soon be mapped (and then available to all, including in many mapping apps).

Here's a link to some of the little bit I've done so far (change zoom level to see more street names): http://osm.org/go/TPgwiAOD

Yes....a Subdivision where the tenants either hate it or love it :-) Sounds like California! Golf to Club house to nice homes. About 9 miles north of SF. Baja Lou lived there.

East entrance is perfect for RVs.......it may look a little further away on the maps....but is faster time wise. Once you do the East....you'll never do the old again :-)

In EDR the main streets (some) have names and the rest of us are just an area and a Number. East crossing is wide, we have taken a big storage (contractor trailer) through there with no problem, Went out the same crossing and again no problem. Nancy
