Plant Identification needed for this trip!

DianaT - 4-26-2013 at 10:02 PM

Just a couple of plants on our trip around our 2/3 acre and we need identification. One of the previous owners was a botanist with the Forest Service so we have several local indigenous plants that keep appearing and while we love them, we have no idea what some of them are!

This first one is a very small blue flowering plant --- it is willowy with flowers at the ends --- is it a domestic or a wild flower? We just do not know

And then there is this jewel. As Spring arrived, this plant appeared and grew into an about foot in diameter mound of thistle type leaves. And then the white delicate flower appeared. There are a lot of buds, but the tissue thin flower that is so beautiful wilts away in one day. Help with identification, please.

THANKS

THANK YOU --- After you identified the white one as a primrose, I went searching and found of picture of the one I think it is.
Oenothera caespitosa (Evening Primrose)
Onagraceae (Evening Primrose Family)

And I find the flax really interesting and BEAUTIFUL. There are several other plants that appeared as spring came around, but we are waiting for them to bloom before we try to identify them.
