Mexicali street maintenance?

I'm heading down to San Felipe soon. How are the Mexicali streets at the border? Last year they were all torn up with many detours.

Don't know where you are coming from but if you can cross at the east crossing the roads and the traffic are much better.

I would be crossings at the west Calexico crossing. Just wondered if the roads are fixed our still under construction around town in Mexicali.

Oh!

Take the extra five miles and go to the EAST crossing....it is very easy to follow. The road from Calixco to the east to fast and adds just a few extra miles to get to it......but your time is made up with the swiftness of going thru the east where there is really not much traffic. No construction on that route.

Most of the main streets in Mexicali are not under construction today but who knows what tomorrow brings. They are currently in pretty good shape. The East Port is faster going to San Felipe but if you have certain places you eat at the West Port may be why you are choosing to enter there. I have always crossed using the West border crossing. I cross around 7am and it doesn't seem that bad to me. Just last year had a bunch of detours.

The east crossing seems way out of the way. Is it just a traffic issue? Does it matter at 7am?

I went through there at the beginning of the month and all of the road work was completed. No detours. The drive through goes very smoothly. I've gone to the East crossing, too...but that seems way out of the way for me since I'm usually coming from the San Diego area. I find the West crossing works fine for me.
