Letter for Permanent Resident

We have the letter to Immigration that we have used to request our FM3 every year. This year we "might" go for the Permanent as our Immigration office said we could do so.

So, does anyone have a letter requesting the Permanent Resident status that they are willing to share?

If so, please U2U.

I have never been asked for a letter for any part of the process.

It would so very nice if all the immigration offices were the same. :biggrin:

We have always been asked for a letter that requests that they grant us the immigration status and when we talked to our office earlier this year, they told us we would need a new letter that requests the new status.

But if no one has one, we will have a friend write one for us --- we just thought it would be easier to cut and paste. :yes:

The requirement borders on power abuse.........almost like kissing their ring.
Why wouldn't there be a form for this?

Just bear in mind that according to Hoyle, extraneous holding permanent resident status give up their legal right to drive a foreign plated motor vehicle in Mexico. I doubt this will ever become an issue with someone so close to the USA border.

If you are using an agent, that's what you are paying him for. To write the letter and prepare the other forms.

INM's checksheet on their website lists the letter requesting what you want to do as one of the first requirements.

The letter also has to say something to the effect that "And I declare under penalty of perjury that all information presented is true".

I dont think a permanente will have problems in the free zones with foreign plated vehicles. The mainland, maybe so. Over here in Sonora, they are refusing to issue the All of Mexico permit or the All of Sonora permit to holders of permanente cards.

The jury is still out, however. If the jury is still out in two years (hey, SLOWER things have happened in Mexico!) when I am forced to decide on a permante or going back to a tourist visa, I'll probably go back to the tourist visa.

Still waiting, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's there waiting for me. I'll have to call my agent since he seems to be too busy with law school to stay on top of his business.

CSL office will print a copy of the letter they use and the P/R applicant signs it there (as part of the application). Have to ask nicely though.
