Pete's Camp Photos May 2013

mrfatboy - 5-6-2013 at 04:03 PM

I finally stopped by Pete's Camp after 20 years to take a look. I thought I would share the pictures for somebody that might be interested to go some day.

We decided not to stay but might give it a try in the future.

Must be something wrong. By your photos it looks like the camping is right in front of those houses. Am I missing something?

You are correct. Most of the palapas are in front of the houses. One of the main reasons we didn't stay. On the north side, the palapas were further away but not by much.

We've stayed there a few times lately. For the most part our experience is that most of the houses are seasonal and only one or two were occupied at the times of our visits and didn't detract from our stay. The restaurant is a favorite of ours.

No hook ups.

About 6 miles north of San Felipe. As you approach San Felipe from the north, once you see the first Pemex on the west side of the road you've gone a half-mile too far.

About an earlier post and the vendors, not too many vendors stray this distance from town. This is about the only beach camp in the area so customer prospects for them are considerably slimmer.

BajaNomad and family recently camped there and posted photos. Pete's Camp was originally called El Paraiso.

It's close to the golf course, just a bit to the south of it.

We've stayed there a few times years ago. The best time was during one of their annual Poker runs in October. The place is PACKED and there is a whole lot of party going on !! The restaurant was great too!

Yes, and you should see it a low tide !! The water recedes quite a bit from shore.

Punta Estrella, a few miles south of San Felipe, looked exactly like Pete's Camp in these pics when we saw it in February. Well, almost. The sand had blown around the palapas like snow drifts. Not a soul around.
