Next to the people, the food, the weather and the beaches, duty free is my favorite part of going to Baja. The last time I went, I found Beefeater
Gin on sale for $8.00 a liter. At my neighborhood liquor store it run's about $20 for the 750ml bottle.

I got mixed responses too when I tried to figure it out, so to play it safe I only went with one. I'm not sure why it's different, but when I flew
back from Mexico City last year, each adult was allowed two litres. It could be because we were flying into Detroit or it was mainland vs. Baja. I'm

be really angry if he could have doubled what he's been bringing back, but didn't!

Duty free stores are on the U.S. side, almost always within a block of the border. You pay no tax to either country, but MUST take it out of the
country. Usually a store employee and/or security guard will escort you to the border or follow you far enough to watch that you don't turn around
without crossing. As a zoner, I use the UETA store in San Luis, often. Today, I picked up a liter of Dewars for $14. I usually walk across to avoid
the car line, walk around the block, cross back in and declare 1 liter of "alcohol or spirits" as all customs agents are ok with the tequila but some
get confused if you mention scotch. Believe it or not, they are not all experts on the law. If I cross back at Algodones, into CA, I can take as
much as I like. BUT, I have to declare it and pay duty on any over a liter, which sort of negates the advantage of "duty free".

Gran Centenario.....I have yet to taste better, and it has not been for lacking fo trying....
One is one no matter the US location. Although like many items in crossing, it often has a lot to do with the mood of those doing the questioning.
I have actually admitted I had some extra bottles of wine and tequila and been told okay....My strategy was I was going to pay if need be...guess they
did not believe it worth the hassle.
