I would say you have a bismarckia nobilis. Nice bloom! Ours is 8 years old and no blooms yet.

Hey Jefe, I think you are right.
We think ours is about 10 years old.
Stop by in a few months for some seeds!

I agree it's a bismarckia. Ours has had lots of seeds for the last several years, but they have been infertile. Apparently, no male trees around or the bees haven't been doing their job.

Fertile seeds are almost the size of a golf ball.

Today's pic

Here is what it looks like today.
Pretty little yellow flowers coming out.

Fertile seeds are almost the size of a golf ball.

There are 100's of them in the Puerto Los Cabos marina gardens so maybe we will be lucky and get some seeds.
I saw a pic of the seeds and thought that they looked big, but didnt know they were that big.
I will post pix as the pods change.

This is not my palm

Ken
WOW
Do you have a shot of the whole tree?
Thanks

monoloco - 5-13-2013 at 11:55 AM

Judy, Yours is definitely a Bismarkia, the giveaway is the way the leaves spiral out of the petiole, also Bismarkias are a lot more robust than a blue fan palm.
