I put in a "Bird Tree" a couple of days ago. So far no complaints. Well the ravens are up set with me but then I don't want them around anyway.
This next shot you can see the wire I strap down the oranges with so the ravens don't snatch them.

Very nice tree! Is it in the ground by its trunk only?
Would you post some photos of the original feeder?
2 weeks ago I saw 2adult quail with 12 babies. The babies were only 1 1/2" tall. It was fantastic.

Here's what my neighbor, Elaine, does. The dove here are aggressive and crowd out other birds.
Here is my first feeder. About 5 minutes after the first dove landed the platform would be emptied.

I finally put a 2"square wire cage around my shelf feeder in Los Barriles. It keeps the White Wing Doves out, but nothing else so far. That includes
Gray Thrashers, Cardinals, Gila Woodpeckers and other larger birds. Some Doves figure out how to stand on one leg and peck a seed or two out of the
shelf, or hang around and look for sloppy seconds. I don't begrudge the smart ones, and the flash mob has gone. Anyone interested, I will take and
post a pic.
