Vicente Fox is all for legalizing marijuana

EnsenadaDr - 6-6-2013 at 03:41 PM

What an ear and eye opener today at my beauty salon. Vicente Fox appeared on the TV and the beautician and a Profesora who was getting her nails done repeated what I had thought Vicente had said. He wanted to grow the best marijuana in the world.

Compared to the quality that has been achieved in the US, Vicente has some catching up to do.........:saint:

I have yet to see really great marijuana from Mexico.

But Mexico does have the perfect climate, I'll give him that. :D

EnsenadaDr - 6-6-2013 at 04:53 PM

Oh but what nice tomatoes you habe there Loretana!!;)

The link up there is broken, so here it is:

MEXICO CITY -- Vicente Fox, the former president of Mexico, was one of the earliest and most prominent voices in favor of legalizing marijuana here. Now he says he would also become a grower.

Fox, who is known for provocative statements, argues that legalizing and regulating marijuana production would deprive violent drug traffickers of their profits. And then legitimate growers would naturally take over production, he says.

“I am a farmer,” Fox told reporters this week at his Fox Center in central Mexico’s Guanajuato state. “Once marijuana is legitimate and legal, I can do it.”

The millions of dollars that marijuana production generates should be going to business entrepreneurs and the Mexican tax base, the former president added, and not to the likes of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, head of the Sinaloa cartel and one of the world’s top fugitive drug lords.

“Marijuana with adequate controls and with legalization can perfectly well be an operating, legal industry [in Mexico] that would take millions of dollars away from the criminals,” said Fox, who was president from 2000 to 2006 for the conservative National Action Party.

At least three years ago, Fox became one of a number of former Latin American leaders to advocate some form of decriminalization of marijuana and possibly other drugs -- a position adamantly opposed by the U.S. government.

His latest statements, which were carried in the Mexican media Thursday, came as the Organization of American States debated at its annual general assembly alternative approaches to a drug war that many member nations feel has become too violent with little progress.

Several countries were advocating a shift in emphasis to public health measures rather than jailing and police action. The meeting in Antigua, Guatemala, winds up Thursday, but it was not clear there would be consensus on final recommendations regarding drug policies.

unprincipled capitalists will do anything to make a buck, sell cigarettes, sell sex, sell drugs, sell guns, sell their soul,...
so vicente fox goes from hawking coca cola to being prez, and back to the bottom of the dung pile to sell drugs to teenagers,...

p.s. i like presidents like jimmy carter and bill clinton because they went on to retire and try to do good,... gwb has not found anything useful to do in retirement, perhaps he can try his hand at selling drugs, eh? he seems to have some experience using the products :lol::lol:

p.p.s. if this legalization think does happen, seems like a good growth industry to get in on, but problem is that if you also use the product you'll be too baked to make wise decisions necessary to succeed :lol::lol::lol::lol:

p.p.p.s if it is legalized, would be more fun to grow your own, next to your tomato crop, pot in every backyard and on every apt/condo balcony,...:lol::lol::lol:

Glad you agree. Clinton and carter are great humanitarians, done more for the world than any GOP prez of recent memory.

Yep. Just ask Monica. Before she crawled around under Clintons desk like this :o, she was a nobody.

Ateo - 6-6-2013 at 08:32 PM

When will a sitting president have the balls to say that weed is less harmful than alcohol? Seems like a winning statement long term, the type that people will praise you for when your dead for many generations. I mean, in 200 years will we still think that marijuana is the devil?

I don't agree. Clinton disgraced the office and dirtied the White House, Carter was a one term disaster.......

EnsenadaDr - 6-6-2013 at 08:39 PM

You know on the US medical boards, they say that the smoke from a marijuana cigarette is much more destructive than tobacco.

In defense of Mr. Peanut

MrBillM - 6-6-2013 at 10:02 PM

He did go on to doing something better suited to his talents.

I haven't heard of any of his houses falling down.

Too bad he didn't take that career path sooner.

The country might not have been introduced to the Misery Index.

Smoke is smoke is smoke......be it from burning cannabis leaves or tobacco leaves or burning tires, pine trees, grass fields, or oil fired generators.

Me thinks the less you inhale smoke from any source....the better.
Hell, even inhaling air is full of harmful substances.

But I sure do like the smoke coming from my fish smoker!!!!
But I have enough sense to not suck it up all damn day!!

More to a libertarian point if view; when is a sitting president, and his two-house cabal, going to say the people should have what the majority want whether it's harmful or not. Let them decide, and quit being the country's nanny.

EnsenadaDr - 6-7-2013 at 07:47 AM

Then it would appear that the President is for legalizing marijuana. I don't think smoke in any way, shape or form is good for you, as I cough with any type of smoke around me, my lungs are sensitive.

Yes of course smoking (anything) is not good for your lungs, but theres been a solution now for some years! Vaporizers heat the bud to below smoking point but release all the goodies without the harmful effects (PAH's).

http://www.legalbuds.com/herbal-vaporizer.html

It also lets you taste the product much better (so I'm told )

By that analogy, the majority don't want Obamacare, don't want to pay taxes and for sure as hell don't want the IRS calling up your parents and telling them to hand over your son's emails.

And we sure as hell don't want the Attorney General LYING to the Nation now do we? Clintonese speak maybe?

Yet the band is still playing the same ole tune.

From the looks of that scale in the background...you or whoever it belongs to is engaged in the commercial packaging/sale of those tomatoes or the mota?

BajaRat - 6-7-2013 at 08:57 AM

You will always be free.......... to do what your told.
I agree with Dennis, I personally don't want a nanny and I'm sick and tiered of the organized crime and their political partners.

wessongroup - 6-7-2013 at 08:58 AM

Spot on .... :):)

Loretana - 6-7-2013 at 11:00 AM

DaliDali,
Actually, the scale is for the tomatoes, the herb is strictly used for medicinal purposes.
Never sold, no way. :)
