Eye exam and glasses in Mexico

SFandH - 6-9-2013 at 02:49 PM

Does anybody have experience getting glasses in TJ, Rosarito, or Ensenada? Is there a significant savings for the exam and glasses of equal quality? Where would you suggest to go? I'm thinking the Walmart in Rosarito might be good. Anybody know?

Ensenada

Costco has optical as well. Isn't it to a point that machines figure the prescription and the only thing for the client to do is choose the frames according to his/her vanity quotient?
I mean.....it's not exactly ophthalmology.

glasses of equal quality? Lenses less, frame cost about the same or more.

School of hard knocks: Now I use an ophthalmologist. Too many errors caused by the lens people. Wrong lens, reversed lenses, correct for close, wrong for distance, or the reverse. Now the ophthalmologist yells at them. They listen harder I guess.

Tough to beat USA Wal-Mart prices for single lens cheap eyeglasses, like a pair for driving. But not if you must look muy guapo :)

Got a pair at Costco when down ......... no worries and was cheaper than NOB

Costco USA wanted four hundred dollars for my frames. Like shopping for computers, some things cost less, others are at full retail plus.

Eye Max at k115 south of Ensenada gives me eye exams for 50 pesos.
Eyeglasses online at Zenni optical, some $9, some $90.
Never had a problem.
Gotta learn to measure the distance between your pupils,
and learn to think metric!

Is that pronounced "Pee Wee? Love it!! Seriously though I bought my last (2) pair of glasses (everyday one & polarized sunglasses too) at Costco (USA) and both pair were under $350. dlls.

I always buy my bifocals at Costco. I'm picky about my frames, since I have to wear them all the time. My last pair cost $189, and I wear them until they literally fall apart, then I'll get a new pair. I find Walmart to be more expensive.

Zenni optical is the place. Get your prescription and then put a picture of your face online and you can put all the different frames on and see how they look.

EyeMax actually charges me fifty pesos for my eye exam.
Just for the eyeglass prescription, not the glaucoma check or anything.

Of course, the last two times I stopped there, they were closed.
Weird hours, I hope.

I tried this, but didn't like it When it's time for me to replace my bifocals, it's a real pain to find frames that fit my small face, so there's no way I could do it online. I'll stick to what works for me.

Eye glasses

We have used the optical place that it near the Cinapolis theater in the Walmart/homedepot shopping area in Rosarito. The exam is with the latest equipment, it is free with the order of glasses. Prices are good, much cheaper than USA. Service is good and they stand by their glasses.
