Wydam on the Marina is a better neighborhood and rooms look out over the marina for about the same money. Some rooms are funky but just complain!

IF they remodeled and upgraded. This property was a travesty when built. It has gone through several owners/ management.

It was a fire trap, in that they only had two elevators for the entire hotel. Lots of water leaks. As I said, I'm speaking of the past.

Mar de Cortez does have a really good restaurant. But, last time we checked it out, the rooms were tired.

You might wish to check out the Hotel Santa Fe. It was built by Grupo Villa, the developer of the Villas de Palmar time shares all over Mexico.

When they go into an area to develop a resort, they always build a nearby support facility to house folks that work for the company.

The rooms are semi-time share. Refrigerator, kitchenette. Queen beds.

Rates for the near future are around $55 US.

They built this one when developing their huge resort on Medano Beach. They have one in Loreto on Salvatierra as well.

The most Nomad-friendly place is downtown (old-town)...www.mardecortez.com
About $50.00 per night.
Superb food at very reasonable prices. Mondays they have a surf-n-turf special of fillet mignon and a 3/4lb lobster tail, two margaritas...all for $19.00 U.S. Pools, Sun deck, etc.
It is steps from Cabo Wabo Cantina, the shopper's fair (negotiate your own prices), and about 400 feet from the Marina and the famous Giggling Marlin Restaurant (waaaay overated), but at least you can say you ate at the Giggling Marlin in Cabo.
It is worth while to make the 45 minute trip to Todos Santos if you have a few hours to spare one day. Stop by the "GOT BAJA?" store, downtown Todos Santos.

Lengua you don't say when you are travelling.

MDC usually closes for the month of September and does room and property repairs, renovations including draining pool etc as needed.. guests are not interrupted by hammers, paint smell etc.

Really a great choice on all counts for a budget selection .. Walking distance to everything .. suggest you give Nat a call she has a tollfree line 800-347-8821 or also offers a US line (831) 663-5803 to help save on operating expenses which in turn, keeps prices affordable! She is in California.

Hope this helps.

Do you mean the Giggling Marlin?

Udo - 6-12-2013 at 09:28 AM

Yes, Judy.

Sometimes the mind has a block and the fingers type the first thing that comes to mind.
Thanks for the correction.

BTW...the Giggling Marlin keeps a blackboard written with the daily catches by fishermen who catch whatever they catch.
