ironic...just as I have gotten this photo log ready to show...i got a message that my cabin has been vandalized. probably missing quite a bit of the contents. will share the insurance process results as it goes along. Here is the photobucket link to my cabin building log:

Good for you ... thats a lot of work

oh man...that sucks...did you have personal items and furniture etc in the cabin? It is always helpful to others to hear your story...like is the cabin isolated? anyone watching out for it? is there other crime in the area or an isolated incident? It is often workers or workers "friends" who know about the place who rob it. Are the police involved or maybe someone local who can keep an eye out for your stuff...people selling things etc. in hopes of recovering some of it.

I would love to hear more about Mel's solar water heater design.

I wondered how those Photobucket stories looked...I'm not fond of it. I would prefer to see the photos in screen size photos instead of the small ones...do you have these images in a slide show instead to see them bigger? I love seeing building projects and yours looks like you put lots of unique touches in it...where is the "cabin"?

Hey almost neighbors, nice handmade house! I have some nice recycled solar water heating stuff cheap here in MS. You could u2u me. At least it is on the way to Baja. Your hot water would be free all the time (close!) with one of my 40 foot copper panels into an insulated tank on a convection loop.

Yeah, your place really feels good to me! Nice!

Learning about Baja......the hard way. I'm really sorry you got hit. It's kind of an automatic when things are left unattended.
Carry on....rebuild, and think about security. Don't let this setback spoil your dream.

It is midway on the eastcape loop road, and yes, it is a tad isolated. I knew I was a sitting duck. i have a security fella that walks around it twice a month. He heard about an adjacent robbery..a truck stolen, and checked on my place...and sure enough........ it had been broken into. Hurricane shutters pulled off, back door lock drilled out, glass block smashed. I'm waiting for the list of stuff that is missing. the adjacent truck robbery had already been reported and the guy caught and jailed. He will be reporting my trip to the local sub delagado. that is all I can tell you at this point, other thatn a list of documents my insurance agent says I'll need. taht i will share along the way.
Yes....the photobucket story thing was hard to manuever......it is all hard for me...so such as it is..it will remain for now.
I'm not all freaked out about this. Easy pickins.

Actually, I'm surprised you found an insurance company that would take it. Hope it works well for you.
If not, I'd consider cutting my losses and move closer to civilization.

Do you own, or rent?

thanks Volcano...wow, the ratas were certainly prepared and determined to get into your place...dang. It will be interesting to know what the paperwork required is for the report.

the photobucket story board idea is very good but could certainly be improved upon and I too found it rather confusing.

Looks like you are up the road a piece from us on what I call the near-east cape. That big dune looks familiar. Sorry for the break in. It does happen out here. Stiff upper lip and all that.

I love the arty touches you've made to your casita. Well done!

next to the castillo de arenas

As I suspected. We are south of you down near La Fortuna. Beautiful day today.
