Devil's Postpile

Last October I was able to drive right up to the trailhead. Didn't know a thing about shuttles. Perhaps they are only used during the busy summer months. September and October are my two favorite months to visit the Eastern Sierra.

Yes, the shuttles are strictly during the busy time. That is a beautiful shot. I really love the composition. Come back this fall and we can race our Subarus down the hill. :biggrin:

It is called "Los Pillares". If you turn off before San Javier in the direktion of Comondu, and after about 10? miles turn left on a bad, bad road, you come to this awsome place.
The hurricane went through a few years ago and destroyed the rancho and the big orchard. The ranchero moved out of the arroyo to a misserable place in the desert...

Thank you... I think I found it, as Los Pilares in the Baja topo map... down Arroyo Santa Isabel, turning off on the side track where the Comondu road leaves the arroyo...?

We used to stop there on the way back to Ridgecrest after skiing at Mammoth. Looks a little different in the winter with snow on it.
