Wow, I haven't posted here for some time. My daughter and I are hoping to go down for the weekend, next week. Any tips, best places to stay?

How nice to hear from you. Yes, its been awhile.

I'm sure you'll get many recommendations.
Just let me say what you already know, Baja welcomes you back!

Thank you!

I have been reading, lurking, just not much to contribute to the forum. Dad is living with me, 90 yrs old, dementia, moderate to severe. I am hoping to get a few days off, scared to leave him with anyone else. If hubby is not working it could happen.I miss Baja so much..

Thanks so much for all your help, kindness, concern.

Have always liked Paridiso it behind Rene,s very quite and reasonable, there are a few rooms by the beach that face the water. Haven't been there in a few years but rate back then was around 45 a night. Good Luck

Stayed there many weekends, back in the day, thought
I saw a craigs listing with pics of those rooms, rented
out monthly as studios? I remember a post of a Motel
in Rosarito, on the main Blvd., east side, about 3 blks
no. of the Rosartio Beach Hotel, name escapes me,
most notably on weekends, I don't think you get much for
your $ in the Rosartio area

You didn't mention drink specials ......

...but if you drink this is the best deal I found in Rosarito:

Not Hotels

But if you want to do a search,

I would recommend key words like Rene's Campo rentals, Popotla rentals - they are close in to Rosarito.

Also, the Oceana tower condominium in downtown Rosarito does rentals.

Los Pelicanos Hotel on the beach in Rosarito also comes to mind as I am typing out this response.

I travel to Rosarito Beach almost every weekend during the summer, or anytime I feel it will be a Sunny weekend. I just got back Saturday night from driving to Rosarito on Friday night, spending the night at The Rosarito Beach Hotel $109 a night. I drove to Ensenada Saturday at 10am, was eating at the spot Anthony Bourdain made famous (great Tostadas!) by 11am. Walked around the shops and bars had a couple of Beers with the Cruise-Ship people who invade the place during the day on weekends, then drove back and had Lobster in Puerto Nuevo by 4pm. I drove back to the Border to cross back to the U.S.A. at 7pm. By 7:30pm I was on the 5FWY headed back home! Sadly, by 11am Sunday morning I was back at home watching the Dodgers on TV losing their game…

For $109 + tax The Rosarito Beach Hotel offers 2 free dinners, and the Fast Pass. If you have a problem with the normal 2-3 hour lines at the Border, this Fast Pass is what makes the stay here irresistible for me. I use the 2 free dinners as credit towards the bar which they allow. This past Saturday it took a bit longer than normal, 40-MINUTES to cross with the Fast Pass. The last time it literally took me 10 minutes with the pass! If you’ve never used the Fast Pass lane, it is worth finding it and staying at locations that offer it! I’ve been using it for the past 4 or 5 years! If you don’t mind the long wait at the Border there are plenty of places to stay once you get to Rosarito where it will be a lot less expensive. Rosarito Beach and Ensenada are great places to hang out on nice sunny days!

Read the Fast Pass was up and running a few months
back, I believe it was unavailable for a while? Some here
seemed not to believe it was a legit thing. You're right
about the Rosarito/Ensenada best experienced on
a sunny day, probably could say that about most coastal spots

Oh crap! Is that why it’s been unbelievably fast when I’ve used it? Will my post of its existence and legitimacy add an extra HOUR to my border crossing?!

Yes it exists, it has for about 4 or 5 years now. It was closed for a couple of months I think last year or maybe 2011, not too sure of when. But it’s been working well the last 15 times I’ve used it this year. I traveled for the first time to San Felipe for Memorial Weekend, and I purposely stayed in Ensenada at a Hotel that offered the Fast Pass, just to make sure I had it when I returned. Memorial Weekend Sunday afternoon on my return I did 15 minutes to cross from the moment I gave my Fast Pass to the Mexican Cop at the booth, to the time I handed my Passport to the Border guy 

For those of you that use it for the 1st time, it will be tricky to find the lane, but it’s worth finding!
