MMc - 6-21-2013 at 11:13 AM

Ateo, I hope you score.

tiotomasbcs - 6-21-2013 at 12:31 PM

I have doubts that any Tropical Storm will get close to the tip this early because ocean temps are still in sixties down here in Peskys. It has warmed up a bit but it dropped to 57 degrees a week back! The Northern Low should definitely throw out waves. We'll see when it gets here or not. East Cape hittin eighty degrees water, yet? Here comes Summer! Tio

Ateo - 6-21-2013 at 12:57 PM

Anyone know scorpion bay water temps. I'll bring my full suit in case. :)

It's hard to dispute forecasts but our weather today is foggy w/ light westerly winds. Cold water. Seems to me from past experience that these early depressions would head west harmlessly into Pacific or follow warmer water up into Cortez. Waxing up the boards in case. BFS? OldJefe? I know there's a few hangin on the results. Tio ps anything showing, yet Chippy?

BFS - 6-22-2013 at 01:48 PM

Water temp. at 3rd point was 60F 2 weeks ago.
Probably not much better right now. Bring the full suit.
And a longie as I don't see that much hope for this one...
Have fun!

El Jefe - 6-22-2013 at 04:34 PM

We've seen over 80 water temps this spring and then it will drop to low 70's. A south wind will turn over the water and cool it off. Today we have east wind so we will see what that gives us. Air is around 76 after a high of 82. Cool for these parts (south-east cape) this time of year.

We are hoping that storm heads right up the shoot into the Sea of Cortez and brings us some rain Wednesday after the big surf. But I think that is a long shot. If it does reach here it will not be hurricane status. Water too cold.

All you guys should head to Scorpion Bay. I'll stay right here and trunk it.

The date on that page is May13. For some reason the Mex Govt stopped updating it. I really like that map with all the weather spelled out. I have looked for it but cant find it...maybe you can.

Ateo - 6-23-2013 at 09:26 AM

Well I'll tell ya, I'm not happy about the surf forecast. Another trip there, arriving a day after the swell peaked and departing the day the next swell is about to arrive. This is ridiculous.

Bajaboy - 6-23-2013 at 09:30 AM

Woody, we're headed out to one of the beaches today...I'll wear my Mas Olas shirt in your honor.

I thought it didn't look right. it doesn't show the current disturbance at all.

Good eyes, Judy.

Soon to be Tropical Storm Cosme:

Stationary TD#3 is soon to be named Tropical Storm Cosme by the NHC, is located about 485 miles south of Manzanillo Mexico and continues to steadily develop. Upper-level winds are forecast to remain favorable for additional development over the next few days as it starts to move slowly off towards the WNW while tracking over warm waters. Right now this system looks to send Southern Baja, and portions of Mainland Mexico some decent sized surf, with the potential for some steep SE-SSE swell to show later on for some select So Cal exposures towards the end of the upcoming week. - Surfline.

woody with a view - 6-23-2013 at 07:24 PM

it'll be flat in Yuma....

elgatoloco - 6-23-2013 at 10:39 PM

My neighbors across the street just got back a couple hours ago from Scorp. They were one of three trucks camped on the bluff at 2nd point for a week. Had lots of waves and a grand time. His sons, 14 and 12, just started surfing last year and they could not wipe the grins off their faces telling me about their first surfing safari. Dad said the boys were in the water 10 hours a day or until the offshore blew them out the back. Good times!
