Wow, I am constantly amazed at what people (and the Governments) spend money on. Those cars are pretty, yes, but what do you do with them?? (and why do you do it?)

(Oh boy, I am in for it now) :O

Barry,

All but two are driven and enjoyed. The others are museum pieces and enjoyed by many, including me.

Viva la diference.....

Some people don't the difference between tools and works of art like those the pictures represent . It must be sad to be that Ignorant .

Bajahowodd - 6-22-2013 at 04:54 PM

Reminds me to ask, is the Harrah's auto museum still open and operating? It used to be a great way to kill a day.:P

That said, I remember when Bill Harrah and Harvey Gross opened casinos on CA 50 opposite each other back in the stone age. Gross was a cattle rancher, and oh yea, his casino, that later became a huge hotel complex is known as Harvey's.

No, J.P, not really "sad"------"ignorance" is bliss, I hear, and I am a happy man so it MUST be true.

Barry

PS------My wife is an artist, and makes a living at it. "Art appreciation" is a requirement in this household. :tumble:

Then there's hope. ;-)

Nice photo work Ken. Very nice!! If the cars were not art before, they certainly are art after your photo work.

willardguy - 6-23-2013 at 01:44 PM

I can only assume these "cars are tools" folks also have no interest in the clean lines of a perfect, uh, boat!

Sorry about the Ignorant thing.

Maybe you can see it this way, Cars and Boats were the tools I always used to catch the ultimate Trophy like in the picture

Actually, if you stare at the young lady long enough part of a boat, a fishing rod, and a watery horizon come into the picture. Amazing how they do it.

Ken Cooke - 6-28-2013 at 07:08 PM

I snapped this picture of an Eastern make/model in front of the hotel in Tallinn, Estonia

MMc - 6-28-2013 at 07:40 PM

I guess, I started the "tool" thing. I have stated for a long time, if it does not go 160mph. or have 4wheel drive it's transport". I will stand by that.
I love old well maintained autos. The Accord with 150k miles, driven everyday will not be considered with such fine works of art. The Explorer 41/2 years sold with 200K was not art. I can go on.
I have owned mussel cars, Porches and sports cars, 4X4 trucks. Those are gems that stay in the garage until they are played with. The daily driver is just that, Buy it, when I done with it, hold on to it for 30+ years. It will not be art. 50 years from now a Civic will be just a Civic. How about those Dodge products from the 80's, art? A 80's or a new Vet or a Ferrari are and will be art.
I love art and all it's curves.
What I drive everyday does not reflect, who or what I am
Art for Art sake. Money for god sake.

Somehow the original topic turned to boats. I combined them to save space.

MMc - 6-28-2013 at 09:15 PM
