From The San Diego Reader

"Yesterday, the Reader's in-house appetite Ed Bedford posted a thorough history of the Caesar salad, which – to make it brief – was popularized in
Tijuana by an Italian cook (he picked it up from his mother) at Caesar’s Restaurant in 1924.
In 2007, a throng of Tijuana salad enthusiasts made the Guinness record for the largest Caesar salad in the world at a whopping 3,287 tons.
On Sunday, June 30 from noon to 10 p.m., the 7th annual Caesar Salad Festival will be celebrating the feat with preparations from about 20 restaurants
in a street fair on Avenida Revolución between Fourth and Fifth Streets (in front of Caesar's Restaurant).
Director of operations Lorena Iñiguez anticipates that over a third of the estimated 4,000 visitors will be coming from Southern California.
The festival will feature a children's areas and music by Cristina Crème, Pachuco Blues, Datz Jazz, and performers of rumba and Flamenco."
