Bringing speargun to Baja

Is it a firearm? I have the kind that use blank .22 cal. cartridges to propel the spear.

Several years ago I had an SSP tell me "no cartuchos de armas de fuego" not even blanks. I myself would be scared to be caught with any. Later a navy patrol boat petty officer explained it was illegal for extraneous to be found with scuba gear and a speargun in the boat". Or for anyone in the boat that has fishing gear to not be in possession of a fishing license.

I wish they were as strict with Japanese commercial fishing boats :(

I see free divers all the time using spearguns but they are the rubber band type. I would not carry any type of cartridge that could be construed as ammo or you might be sitting in the cárcel for a long time.

It is illegal to spearfish using tanks - only freediving.

I know that people use concrete nail guns in Baja. they use the equal of a blank, but who knows if they are "legal"

long ago not to leave Mex Authorities any
room for interpertation

Don't forget your fishing license. If any fishing gear on board, all on board need to have a license.
