I will be enrolling a new (used) car as soon as it's approved. It has after market window tint, not too dark, but darker than original. Should I take
it off, or go for it? I could rip that stuff off while the guy looks at another car but that might be pushing it.

When you go for your interview, they ask about tinting. If they decide that it's too dark, they give you the option of removing the tint, or not
enrolling the car. I would take it off before the interview and vehicle inspection.

What I was told that as along as the front windows and windshield aren't tinted, your fine.
I've registered 3 cars all with dark tint. Even had top 10% of windshield tinted and no problem. They do check for front license plate though.
