All Bonito that day.............nothing else. Working on a trip report but don't think I'll have enough time to get it posted today.

BajaBlanca - 7-7-2013 at 01:54 PM

way cool!

BajaRat - 7-7-2013 at 02:13 PM

You guys are livin the life ! Right on ! Hope Eric comes around the corner and gets you some waves

Ateo - 7-7-2013 at 02:15 PM

Thanks BajaRat. We are back home so the only waves I'll be getting from Eric will be here in Oceanside!

BajaRat - 7-7-2013 at 02:27 PM

Sure beats the hot ranch here. We are starting to get some monsoonal flow now, isolated T storms and a little rain. Goin to Prescott tomorrow to help cover some shifts, someday the fam would love to see San Juanico, Maybe get a wave or three. Peace

way to go! a lot of people don't like bonito but we can't all be eating tuna and dorado every day. we really like bonito and it makes a pretty good sashimi!

That's the way to do it. I used to keep a bottle of soy sauce and tube of wasabi on the boat for the same exact thing.

Wow - is that a Penn 309 level wind? On my very first trip to Baja we were fishing live bait off Carmen and the first fish I caught was a 30# yellowtail. I had the biggest reel I owned - the smaller 209. Cracked the sideplate and the drags were shot. heh, no kidding.

Looks like one of them "Short Fin Albacore" to me.

Now, she's hooked for life. Good catch.

I like making bonito salad sandwiches, yum! Looks like great fun

Santiago:

T'was a Penn!!! Funny thing you noticed because we all had a conversation about it while trolling around. Seems it's a great pole. I didn't even have to wind the line with my thumb as this thing did it for me. I'm a novice when it comes to fishing.
