. . Hello all. . Hoping to drive our truck towing an enclosed utility trailer with motorcycle / kayaks & camp gear inside down into Baja - 6 week
trip? - and wondering about insurance. . .What do I need??? Will my US policy cover me in case of an accident? Do I just need MX liability for the
truck / trailer / motorcycle? Cost effective solutions appreciated!!! . . . I've flown down many times & drove down to Shari's once in the truck.
. .TIA

You'll need to buy a tourist insurance policy that will cover your vehicles and trailer while in Mexico. Bajabound, Vagabundos del Mar, and others
offer relativity inexpensive policies. You won't be covered under your US policy.

call Discover Baja and ask about the "any 90 days in Mexico during the year" policy. you'll need a trailer policy also.

You only NEED liability insurance.
For Baja Sur the new requirement is the equivalent of $300,000 USD. Not sure of the limit for Baja (norte) but it is less.
Your call on insuring the truck/trailer/contents for damage and loss. Depends on what it's worth and your feeling about losing it. Deductibles are
high and there are exclusions. Read the policies.
For a six week trip, buy an annual policy. The break even point of daily -vs- annual rates is 2 1/2 to three weeks.

For a six week trip it is likely to be much cheaper to buy an annual policy or as mentioned above an "any 90 day" policy. I highly recommend that you
go through one of the travel clubs such as Discover Baja. They hold a great deal of clout with insurance companies just by the sheer number of
policies they write. I had to file a claim 2 years ago and having Discover Baja by my side through the whole ordeal was priceless.
