Same as a classic Baja bar out of the old west, this place has long standing history.
Rancho Macias, at El Descanso.
East of the free road near K 50.
In the hills. Back a couple miles.
Presented are a few images of vaqueros riding bulls & such . . .
But here's the deal. Rodeos in these venues are "immersion opportunity" of considerable enjoyment.
Today, the announcer greets me as a familiar friend and lures me into my first barrel race.
Tree teams of three guys.
One rides a wild burro while the other two lead it out and around a barrel & back.
We made 2nd place!
This event is a crowd pleaser.
Five guys or gals are lured from the audience. One by one, each chugs a beer & runs down the 50 foot rope lying straight on the ground. Here
they meet two fellows that spin them around 8 or 10 times. The announcer looses count on occasion, so occasionally more. They return stumbling to
the start point.
Difficult to photograph. You never know where in the arena they will next fall.

Hey Jeff-- What a great time it was!! Musica, cowboys, horses, bulls, beer, blood, dust, comida, confusion, burros, excitement, entertainment,
injuries, danger and clowns! Great setting (Ranco Macias), and thanks to the cowboys who keep this tradition alive!
