Black Cactus

bajacalifornian - 8-9-2013 at 11:04 AM

The first moments of my search for stuff on black cactus . . . a cactus up here I like, brought a Games company, then forbidden access, to a forum. Third, I saw the same snapshot some fool, just like me, had made. Here's mine . . .

I'm Hoping to raise some of these in Loreto. I like the deep purple color mixed in.

I have some of these, I heard they are called Black Roses?

bajacalifornian - 8-9-2013 at 11:32 AM

Appropriate, pretty name.

Are those cactus, or some other type of succulent? They sometimes tend to be confused in conversation, like the Agave when discussing Tequila.

Like names of fish in Mexico, check out cactus vs succulents.

Both can or may not have needles . . . all are one and one is all.

Something like that.

Looks like a Jade bush.......a succulent

Tequila is from an Agave.....The Weber Blue Agave...

It is sold up here in Sacramento at a specialty nursery. Price is one arm and a leg. I must say that this is a very good plant for complimenting others. You have good taste bajagrouper

Thanks, I noticed driving along Hi-way 2 south of AZ some beautiful deep purple Nopal ( Beaver Tail ) Cactus, kind of strange seeing deep purple among all the greenery..........

Thanks. That's my point. Neither is a cactus.

Aeonium

Succulent.

I have them all over my backyard.

Easy to grow.

Cut a piece. Leave in your backyard for 2 weeks cuz you're lazy. Stick in ground. It'll grow.

Come on by if you ever need cuttings.

Call first.

=)

Here's some from 2 minutes ago.

I have some that are green, red, purple/black.

I think there are many different species/uhhhhh don't know the scientific term.

They compliment others exactly. Where else is there a dark colored plant in most collections? Mostly greens.........this purple/black rules. MY FAVORITE.............and hard to kill.

Yeah those things grow like weeds here in SD. You can just clip them off, and stick them in the ground and it will grow without anything really!
