Wow...yet another first for La Bocana...my how things are evolving on the central coast! I look forward to the review and photos.

I know ! These are cheeses (blue etc) that will be brought down from Ensenada especially for this event ... as well as wines.

Shari come on over for the day !

La Bocana sure seems to have it act together for the benefit of all of community --- or at least that is the direction they are following.

Sounds like a fun event! Enjoy

How hot does it get this time of year Blanca during the day?

BajaBlanca - 8-10-2013 at 07:47 AM

BajaBoy, how cool is that?!

We are on the Pacific, doc. Think cool breezes all year. We only get humidity and oppressive heat when there is a hurricane down south. Not the case right now! The weather is pleasant.

Mike and Rosalind, come on by, it's been a while. Sunday would be a good day!

EnsenadaDr - 8-10-2013 at 08:09 AM

I remember going to Cabo San Lucas in June, which is also on the Pacific. The humidity and heat were oppressive. What is the average daytime temperature right now?

We are so far from Cabo, doc..... about 12 hours away .... I am not sure about the temps - it is cool in the shade and hot in the full out sun! we are the same as in Bahia Asuncion, maybe David or Shari can give some numbers ??? We are also the same as Punta Abreojos.

It is NOT hot. I don't do heat very well. cooler is cooler.

Udo - 8-10-2013 at 06:14 PM

I'll let you all know when I'm in BA next week.

Shari...
I just made some BBQ sauce, and I'll bring you some if you and Juan are into BBQ.

It's not quite a Louisiana/Kansas City/Texas/Tennessee.

My style name is MEX-TEX-NASH.
Sweet-tomatoie-with-a-back-heat.

Blanca - that sounds like so much fun. La Bocana is becoming quite the cultural hub! Would love to be there.

BajaBlanca - 8-11-2013 at 08:47 AM

Come back and visit wilderone

Udo, share some bbq with us too? My mouth is watering at the thought of a good bbq sauce :bounce:

BajaRat - 8-11-2013 at 09:13 AM

Dona La La cheese ? Have fun for us !
Wish we could be there. Hope to see you guys on the way to Abre
Blanca, are the oysters available at the coop right now?

Udo - 8-11-2013 at 11:19 AM

I'll bring some extra for you also, Blanca.

BUT:

When we come down in December, we plan on bring a couple of large pork butts for one of our dinner parties. I'll brine them first, then put a BBQ rub on them, vacuum seal them, let them rest for about three days. Then cook them in the oven for about 18 hours.
I'll make a triple batch of the BBQ sauce, make some cole slaw with local ingredients, and I'll use local bolillos for the buns.

I forgot to mention, we'll stop by your co-op and pick up some fresh oysters.
Hopefully they'll give me some good ones. Last year I bought 5 dozen, and two dozen had to be thrown away because they were dry.
I'll let you know which day I'll come by to pick them up. Perhaps with your influence they give me some better oysters.

BajaBlanca - 8-11-2013 at 06:44 PM

Bajarat and Udo: oysters are available now .... and supposedly muy buenos. They must be ordered and paid for at the cooperative store (in the plant itself), then you go to the beach and wait while they bring them over from across the way.

Udo, Thanks for sharing the BBQ sauce!

Pics of the wine and cheese tasting next on the agenda.
