What you have is an agave and not a cactus, its name is Agave.Geminiflora..

Agave gemniflora doesn't have the barbs on the sides of the leaves (though it does have the starburst look). I think the plant is a Dasylirion
wheeleri, closer to yuccas than agaves. Native to TX and MX. Wicked plant to try to prune!
