Verizon just doesn't work well in Baja...when I got an iPad I intentionally got the AT&T cellular plan so that I have both. Even camping in
pretty desolate spots in the California desert I am able to pick up one or the other and feel just a tad safer in that I often camp solo.mrfatboy - 8-13-2013 at 07:20 AM
What type of Verizon phone is it? If its a iPhone 4S or 5 you can unlock it and put a telcel/Movistar/lusacell sim in and it will work fine. Maybe
some android phones can do the same but I don't know.

I recently changed to Verizon and have no experience with it in Mexico, but so far it has been worth it just to be disengaged from one of the USA's
truly BAD corporations. (ATT)
I feel good in the same way I did when I fired the big interstate bank that had been victimizing me, and signed-on with a local/regional business with
the same insurance on my funds.
My internet speed went from 2.8 M on ATT to 22.3 M on the same damned piece of wire coming into the house but billed by a local company!!!

It should work but will be pricey for the caller. I think all calls are free for the receiver in mexico. Not sure about international tho. What

Verizon is the pits. They told me i had to convert my pay as you go phone to a contract to get mexico cell service. I did that and paid upcharge. My

Verizon users are pretty common because the employers use that them and give phones to employees.
Verizon users in Baja usually have a Telcel MX phone in Baja because Verizon does not use the international frequencies. Telcel phones are cheap and
are pay as you go. You must renew your minutes in 6 months or you loose your number. The longest plan is 2 months then they require more minutes to
talk, but the minutes add.
Three or four big cities have Verizon towers.
Telcel (ATT) work most every place except the remote deserts.

I have Verizon. I also have a Telcel phone on the Amigo plan, because Verizon is useless outside the major cities (TJ, the touristy part of Ensenada,
Mexicali, La Paz). Even in Rosarito and the Valle de Guadalupe it'll be a brick.
Go to Sanborns, buy the cheapest phone. It's 301 pesos, you get 300 pesos of credit. Recharge by going into any Oxxo or 7-Eleven and asking for a

as others have said, Verizon didn't work for us in Baja, but the AT&T GoPhone we got, worked perfect! We would just renew our minutes online! Good

You can forward to any number in the world, as long as you're willing to pay the toll rate (if any) between the number you're starting from and the
number you're going to.
