I've ended up on Verizon, moving from AT&T; any issues in Baja with Verizon I should be aware of?Bill Collector - 8-12-2013 at 12:14 PM
It doesn't work in Buena Vista or Los Barriles BCSbajaguy - 8-12-2013 at 12:31 PM
If you go to Verizon's service area map for Mexico/Baja you will see that they have a small bubble around the major cruise port cities.willardguy - 8-12-2013 at 12:33 PM
CDMA no bueno in baja, stick with a GSM providerMula - 8-12-2013 at 12:33 PM
Doesn't work anywhere but Cabo, LaPaz and the border area.
Waste of money.

My friend has Verizon and had the exact same experience. I have AT&T and it works everywhere.woody with a view - 8-12-2013 at 08:34 PM
get your money back. ATT works on the TELCEL network EVERYWHERE!!!!bajamedic - 8-12-2013 at 10:58 PM
My Verizon did not work in San Felipe and I had a international plan, it did work right on the border, but I lost all use mid Mexicali. JHredhilltown - 8-12-2013 at 11:23 PM
Verizon just doesn't work well in Baja...when I got an iPad I intentionally got the AT&T cellular plan so that I have both. Even camping in
pretty desolate spots in the California desert I am able to pick up one or the other and feel just a tad safer in that I often camp solo.mrfatboy - 8-13-2013 at 07:20 AM
What type of Verizon phone is it? If its a iPhone 4S or 5 you can unlock it and put a telcel/Movistar/lusacell sim in and it will work fine. Maybe
some android phones can do the same but I don't know.

I recently changed to Verizon and have no experience with it in Mexico, but so far it has been worth it just to be disengaged from one of the USA's
truly BAD corporations. (ATT)
I feel good in the same way I did when I fired the big interstate bank that had been victimizing me, and signed-on with a local/regional business with
the same insurance on my funds.
My internet speed went from 2.8 M on ATT to 22.3 M on the same damned piece of wire coming into the house but billed by a local company!!!
If/when I get back to Baja, I guess it will be a throw-away Tel Cel for emergencies.Santiago - 8-13-2013 at 06:39 PM
I am stuck with Verizon as it's a business account - but, I need to be able to get calls while in Baja. I have a personal AT&T phone. Can I
simply leave the business phone in the states, plugged in, and forward the calls to my AT&T number? Will this work?woody with a view - 8-13-2013 at 06:49 PM
yes.mrfatboy - 8-13-2013 at 06:59 PM
It should work but will be pricey for the caller. I think all calls are free for the receiver in mexico. Not sure about international tho. What
type of ATT phone? Is Google Voice an option? How 'on call' to you have to be or can you just check in to the US if you want to?Bobvaso - 8-16-2013 at 09:46 AM
Verizon is the pits. They told me i had to convert my pay as you go phone to a contract to get mexico cell service. I did that and paid upcharge. My
phone is cdma which will not work on their network. Total waste. I have simple TelCel now.PaulW - 8-16-2013 at 07:47 PM

Verizon users are pretty common because the employers use that them and give phones to employees.
Verizon users in Baja usually have a Telcel MX phone in Baja because Verizon does not use the international frequencies. Telcel phones are cheap and
are pay as you go. You must renew your minutes in 6 months or you loose your number. The longest plan is 2 months then they require more minutes to
talk, but the minutes add.
Three or four big cities have Verizon towers.
Telcel (ATT) work most every place except the remote deserts.
Telcel phones work in the US if they can see an ATT tower.dasubergeek - 8-19-2013 at 12:49 AM
I have Verizon. I also have a Telcel phone on the Amigo plan, because Verizon is useless outside the major cities (TJ, the touristy part of Ensenada,
Mexicali, La Paz). Even in Rosarito and the Valle de Guadalupe it'll be a brick.
Go to Sanborns, buy the cheapest phone. It's 301 pesos, you get 300 pesos of credit. Recharge by going into any Oxxo or 7-Eleven and asking for a
recarga. You need to recharge once every two months or your number expires.BajaLuna - 8-27-2013 at 12:07 AM
as others have said, Verizon didn't work for us in Baja, but the AT&T GoPhone we got, worked perfect! We would just renew our minutes online! Good
to know calls can be forwarded from Verizon to AT&T, not sure if that is the case with a GoPhone though?dasubergeek - 8-27-2013 at 09:25 AM
You can forward to any number in the world, as long as you're willing to pay the toll rate (if any) between the number you're starting from and the
number you're going to.
