As of August 1, the vehicle inspection is required for processing high exchange plates or vehicles, reported the State Revenue Collector Arturo Alvarado.

The official said that while it was mandatory to check vehicles since 2012, this was not a requirement for revenue collection until the first day of August.

He mentioned that the vehicle inspection, it promotes caring for the environment by reducing air pollution indices, which according to the Secretary for Environmental Protection, Mists Efrain Ortiz, corresponds to 70% caused by transportation.

In the month of December 2012, Mists Ortiz announced that it would be 16 verificentros statewide, and the measure to require verification as a requirement for the exchange of plates would be until 2014. However, as of this month and is due for redemption and high of vehicles.

Verificentros Association of Baja California, unveiled the vehicle inspection process takes on average 7 minutes, and consists of three steps.

The first review of documents up to check that the card matches the serial movement of vehicle, and in this case new or imported, is checked against the bill.

Subsequently, we carried out an inspection to verify that the vehicle has fuel oil cap, hoses connected, the engine has no modifications and exhaust system leaks.

The third step, the vehicle is subjected to a test to verify that this issue is not blue or black smoke, and then run the unit on a dynamometer at 24 km / h for a minute, then at 40 km / h for another minute, this so that the sensors are placed in the exhaust system and record the emission of carbon monoxide, oxygen and nitrogen oxide, these must comply with the Official Mexican Standard.

The spokesman for the association, Cruz Juarez, said the price of vehicle emissions for 2008 and earlier models is 4 minimum wages, equivalent to 259 pesos for vehicles 2009 onwards, than 5 minimum wages, corresponding to 327 pesos. El certificado otorgado tendrá vigencia de dos años. The certificate issued will be valid for two years.

It sounds to me like a revenue enhancement program.

There's been a lot of chatter in the local papers about it recently. There are presently two inspection station operating in Ensenada.
People will comply or they won't renew their registration, but I'm sure compliance will have a few forms.

and just where is the emissions test center in Baja?

Ateo - 8-16-2013 at 09:54 AM

Maybe they should start with a gross polluter hotline. When you see a plume of smoke emanating from a vehicle, you can call to report it, then they get sent a letter in the mail to do a smog check. Oh wait, does the mail work down there? JK

Two in Ensenada. More when the need arises.
If you need to know the address, I'll look into it.

I think the efforts are to put a stop to things like this, but I don't know how they'll do that. These people, many of them, have been forced by necessity and bad economy to make recycled junk a part of their lives and the personal expense to step out of this will be prohibitive.

San Felipe

In the last few years, driving in San Felipe with U.S. plates and NO current Sticker has become more hazardous as the Cops have seen the profit opportunity.

Which I found was easily solved with a decent Ink-Jet Printer.

PROVIDED, of course, you're not stopped and actually asked for the registration.

It provides an excellent incentive to drive carefully.
