Punta San Jose and Punta Cabras 8/13

Chupacabra - 8-21-2013 at 07:07 AM

First post on Bajanomads, so I thought I'd best make it a report:

Made a quick surf/camp trip to chase the tail end of a south swell. PSJ was pretty much empty except for a group of guys on a bachelor party surf trip. We camped a ways down the cliff from them so their festivities didn't keep us awake, and we had the morning glass all to ourselves while they slept it off.

The waves at PSJ were pretty decent:

The road to PSJ is in excellent shape as always. The turnoff that leads to Cabras from the north is a bit dodgy at the last part as you drop down from the hills; it's definitely easier to come in from Erendira to the south if you are in a passenger car.

Much quieter in this area than I remember from the past, not much gringo traffic these days.

Thanks for posting. I can't believe the "Chupacabra" screen name wasn't taken yet! Nice choice, nice rig, and nice surf spots!

we used to camp and trade buds with the pangueros for lobster back in the late 80's. there was a steel wagon wheel and axle on the reef back then at low tide. still looks the same.

PSJ is definitely NOT a secret spot, just a bit out of the way...

bajacalifornian - 8-21-2013 at 05:18 PM

I dunno how that happened . . .

Well, you just need to hit the edit button on that post and you can remove all the stuff you copied and pasted that you didn't want to have in your reply... easy.:light:
