I'm thinking about heading to Punta Baja (near El Rosario), then exploring the coast down to Punta San Carlos and points in between.
Can anyone tell me how the roads are along that stretch these days? I have a Tacoma 4X4 but like to err on the side of caution since this will be the
sole vehicle on the trip.

Go for it! we do at trip a couple times per year. The coast road is very rocky with small rocks in soft sand. It's just another Baja road.
It will be breeze to windy. There is a full blown wind and kite surfing camp that San Carlos. The place has a full following. The surf can be very
good in the morning and the fishing is good. Baja Catch doesn't mention it for fishing so nobody goes there. A kayak and some swimbait or crocks. The inland road is very good much faster not as much fun. This is where the rock
farmers live. 2'-3" Mexican pavers, 3"-4" Mexican Pavers. Big crops every year!!!
I'm sure maps and turn directions to follow. Pass on them and go have a adventure. The Atlas is all you need.

We did that run (in a Tacoma) in Dec., 2005 and I made a web page with the road logs, photos, and a map: http://vivabaja.com/1205/
It was an easy day trip, no 4WD needed then, and nice coastline photos. The Punta San Antonio fishcamp has been more developed I hear. Back then it
had a boat launch ramp, but I saw a photo recently of a small marina labeled as being there?
