Anyone have any experience with this type of insurance? It sounds perfect for those of us who spend most of our time in Baja yet carry full time US
insurance coverage on our cars. This way we would only be charged/covered for the time we actually spend driving in the US. Sounds good to me.

Can't have experience with it when it doesn't even go into effect until January 2014, can you?
Sorry - didn't read the part about some companies having offering it since 2008. . .

Nick,
wouldn't that only work if you didn't drive the vehicle at all, except in California?
Doubt they will take your word for miles driven out of state.

apparently the way it works is they put a GPS tracker in your car (that's the down side) to record when you're driving in a "covererd" area and how
many miles you drive. So you won't be covered in Mexico, which we aren't now and will be covered and charged when in the US. Sounds perfect for us.
