cowboy motel in guererro negro

considering staying at the cowboy while enroute to loreto next time, question- is there secure parking for my truck? i dont have a camper shell and will have some gear in the back.

also it looks like they have rooms with at least 3 beds, there will be 3 adult men in the group, is the cowboy a good choice??

at the malarrimo the only rooms with more than 2 beds require climbing a ladder to get into a loft bed, not gonna happen after a coupla beers,

we went by a few weeks ago and it was deserted...... free wi-fi at Caracoles Plaza was nice!!!!

Unsightly as it is, that little town has rather expensive hotels. Don't know why. Malarrimo was around 45 bucks last winter, and Cowboy is probably the same.

You can go the cheap route and stay at the Dunas - 200 Pesos .. Wifi... secure parking .. The bathrooms have not been remodeled since they opened in the 70's

Maybe it's a seasonal thing, since the owner only recently completed building a bunch of second floor rooms.

I don't know the layout of those new rooms, but originally, I believe they only had two rooms with more than two beds.

At the end of the day, unless we are specifically going to play with the whales, we avoid the town entirely as we transit the peninsula.

Go play with the whales in San Ignacio and you won't need to ever stop in Guerrero Negro.

I just called Cowboy hotel & it was never closed but sometimes the office is locked if they go pick up their kids or something so go in and the chambermaids will help you. They have 2 big rooms with 3 beds & a sofa bed for 600 pesos &wifi

To DianaT- We have gone whale watching at San Ignacio a couple of times. There are two considerations we have. First, it entails a longer drive down and up Mex1, and second, although I understand that a certain amount of the road from the town to the lagoon has been paved, at least in the past, 40 miles on that rutted dirt road almost made me long for Guerrero Negro.

To Shari- I'm not sure what time of day the Asadero Cowboy restaurant opens, but we have, in the past experienced that a fellow who waits tables in there has also been the front desk guy. Just needed to go into the restaurant.

Yes part is paved and the scenery is so much prettier. We love that drive, but many do prefer to take one of the vans out there. That lagoon is just so beautiful, whale watching is great, and then you get to spend the night in the beautiful town of San Ignacio. Shucks, it is only about another 1 1/2 hours down the road.

Two weeks ago, the Cowboy was remodeling their entrance with a couple of large archways. However, one could carefully drive an 18 wheeler through those arches.

And, yes, it is a very secure parking lot!
