Lopez

bajacalifornian - 8-26-2013 at 07:55 PM

Here's the deal.

I found a place I like here (K38) so I wanna turn loose a piece of property in Lopez.

If you follow advice on this forum, if you already know you like San Diego weather,

or world class fishing, or fly an airplane, listen up.

You come, check it out. Stay at my place (sleeps 5, screws 10) for free.

Several to choose from. Talk here, talk U2U.

ALL have clear perfect Mexican title, taxes & utilities paid.

Can build real cheap and sensibly, or whatever. It's Mexico. We can do.

Some people came down a month or so ago and bought the place behind us in Lopez and then found another house they liked better, so bought it too.

I think they are Loreto people part-time.

I missed them, and I think it was Ruben who put them on to the places.

Lopez Mateo - beautiful village on the coast

I don't know BajaCalifornian's property, but have good thoughts about the town of Lopez Mateo.

The town is vibrant with an active community. It has charming curving streets, a town square and covered bandstand, what appears to be a new, excellent ISSTE hospital and medical center.

Situated at the northernmost end of Magdalena Bay the town is protected from the open ocean by a mangrove estuary. Whales winter and calve in this area.

The highway and turnoff to the village is now paved. Its now only about 3 hours north of La Paz and an hour or so from the mountain villages of Los Comondus and La Purisima.

If real estate is going to expand in Baja, Lopez Mateo is poised on the edge of the wave.

For perspective, these lots are under 15K U.S.

bajacalifornia,

As I mentioned earlier I'll be down your way in October. Oct 11-17 at east cape's Rancho Leonero. Then a buddy will pick me up there on 18th and drive to San Carlos where he is staying in Mag Bay. I've convinced him to stop at Lopez on our way back for a few days of fishing. I hope to be there before Oct 22th which I believe you said was a perfect time to fish Lopez. We'll need a guide & live bait for his 18' aluminum Baja boat as well as lodging. We plan on only fishing the mangroves, not outside. I'd be interested in looking at a few properties while we are there. I grow up fishing the mangroves around Fort Myers Beach Florida back in the 50s & 60s and today have a shallow water draft boat that I believe is capable of running the boca (Cabo216) if things work out. Contact info please.

I've been away from Baja fishing toooo long. The pic is of my 1st mate.

Try the Feliz Cameron for a room. Great family and Rosa is an excellent cook.. Son, Saul, is a pretty good captain. I f you go out with him and you aren't catching any fish, he will take you to the docks of the old plant for fresh oysters and stop by a sandbar for fresh scallops.
Have fun!

Thanks Judy for the info for future reference.

I'll be staying a bajacalifornia's place and fishing with Chico for four days. The plan is 3 days in the bay with my buddy's 18' aluminum bayrunner and 1 day outside in Chico's panga. I leave this Friday for a week at Rancho Leonero and then a buddy already down there on business will pick me up and drive over to Lopez on the 18th. I'll be checking Lopez (never been there) out for future fishing trips and possibly a fish camp for old farts. I grew up fishing the backwaters and mangroves of southern florida and this place seems similar. My kind of fishing. I'll also be checking out the boca to see if I could comfortably steer my Cabo216 through it. I will not be taking any fish home and will release or give to the captain all the fish I catch at either place except for a few lbs of smoked YFT and of course dinner.

Try to get some canned tuna from the processing plant. We always buy a case. Can't find it any fresher!
