Braving the Holiday Weekend Crowds

Ateo - 8-30-2013 at 11:51 AM

I don't know why I'm doing this, but I will be in Northern Baja this weekend, braving the crowds and belligerent border waits. Had to delay my Sentri appointment so I'll be chilling in the Ready Lane. I will let you know how long it takes to cross if I ever make it back.

The "throngs" are already beginning to arrive here in PB. This will be a good weekend to measure the "new and vigorous" tourism market. Hope it turns out well.

I'll be close to PB Dennis.......come on over to Las Canadas and we can do the zip line together.:lol:

The "American's In Mexico With Disabilities Act" prohibits such displays of lunacy, but thanks for the offer, Jon.

Cross Monday morning----- no workers, no school, no line! Just do it by 9AM or you won`t be happy!!
Sunday--- Baja Cowboys are at Paradise Point (Tiki Bar), and the bullfights are by the sea!! Come down and have a great time!!

A bit of sarcasim? You don't buy into the reported Baja
Tourism increase propaganda, I mean statistics? Me
niether, my experience along the Rosarito/Ensenada
corridor, I see So Cal Hispanics camping/Hoteling who
were neverr scared off of Baja. A line report of the Sun.
after 4th of July coming back at San Ysidro by a Nomad
had a 7 1/2 hr. wait, hope yours is 1/4 of that, good luck

No. You know me better than that.
I use La Joya beach camp as my source. I'll drive through and notice the plates on the cars and try to figure the predominant demographic.

Hardly scientific, but it's the best [only] method I have.

This weekend....lots of California plates along with the Eagles on the sound systems.

Things are changing, I'm happy to say. Vendors will still tell you business is terrible, but it isn't for the moment.

What time?

Ateo - 9-1-2013 at 05:29 PM

Sunday at 2PM.

I walked over to do some shopping (had bought a case of wine in SD, stupidly, and couldn't cross with it and then come back with it) and the line to cross back around noon, even for the regular lanes, wasn't even back to where the medical line butts in.

The pedestrian crossing was an absolute fustercluck though... the regular (white) lane went all the way back past the old taxi stand, up the hill to Ferrocarril, looped around, and was back over the bridge. The new SY pedestrian ReadyLane was backed up only to the new southbound entrance, and as usual the SENTRI was completely empty.
