Columbia, Ca to La Paz Questions

C205Driver - 8-31-2013 at 03:25 PM

. . . First thanks for your replies!!!! We are headed down around 10/1 ( 1-2 months ) for some Sightseeing ( before we reach BOLA ), Tent Camping and maybe some Whale Sharks, SCUBA & Fishing @ BOLA. . After Bola, would love to visit Punta Sanfrancisquito for a spell. .Then San Ignacio, Santa Rosalia & then Mulege for a spell. After Mulege we wish to find our way to La Paz which will be our turn around destination.. . So we will need to leisurely head back North looking for more to see / do also. . .Will be driving a 2007 GMC Diesel 4WD towing a 12' Enclosed dual axle trailer with our kayaks, dual sport, TENT camp gear, etc.. .. Thinking of San Ysidro then Hwy 3 thru San Felipe - Coco's - BOLA??? BOLA - Guerrero Negro - PSFO - back to Hwy 1 and then San Ignacio - Santa Rosalia - Mulege . . After Mulege start for Lapaz. . .On the return we plan on staying on Hwy 1. . .Feel free with your ideas, suggestions or bashing as we are open minded BUT never buy drinks for bashers!!!! Again thanks for input!!!

Just so you know, as you did say it was a sightseeing trip, the highway between La Paz and Cabo via Todos has been completed as a four-lane, rendering the trip between Cabo and La Paz to under two hours.

First & last time to Cabo was enough for me to last my lifetime as I am not much for big cities. . .

Hola C205Driver,

sounds like a great trip.

my only concern would be, there is no ulsd possibly below el rosario and IF you would incur any damage to your engine.

will someone please chime in here ?

BIEN SALUD, DA RAT

had to look it up. A touristy town in the gold rush country. Todays temperature is 104 and I'll bet there is plenty of smoke from the Rim fire.
No wonder you want to get out of there.:lol:

. . Rat in the Desert, truck does not require ULSD. . .Robert D., we are about 1 1/2 miles out of Columbia State Park ( where gunfight scene from "High Noon" was filmed ) & yes smoky in the AM but good in PM. . .We are about a mile from Columbia Airport where lots of Firefighting aircraft now are including LOTS of helicopters. . . We were actually Campground Hosts at Cherry Valley Campground until we got evacuated ( another story ). . .Check out http://inciweb,org.com But, living here is pretty darn nice & consider myself fortunate to be here since 1977. . .And if you believe the weatherperson, what else do you believe in?????

Hey fellow Columbian...have been thinking about you since the fire started!!
We were going to take our camper to come see you at Cherry. Maybe see you in Mulege!

San Felipe to Gonzaga will be a sightseeing treat. The Gonzaga to HWY1 section will be very slow with the trailer, but it sounds like you have lots of time.

Pull the bike out on that section for some exploring while the driver goes 5mph.

Take your time. Explore and have fun.

PS I am sure others will chime in with maps, photos and GPS waypoints.

Who would give out all that Ralph?

C205, you might enjoy having a peek at my July 2012 pics (link below) as it sounds like some of the same areas of interest.

I went to Columbia in 1978-80. Had a little cabin up near the mill
