Really happy you posted this again as many people probably missed it the first time around and it is WELL worth reading. It demonstrates lots of world
interconnections from a very long time ago.
A friend in Bahia Asuncion has a copy of the research paper done in Spanish as he and his family became involved with Don Estes.
It is a shame Don Estes is no longer alive as he really was an expert on the Japanese experience in California in many ways.

Abalone was 10-12 shells high stacked on top of each other. Wow!
