Bringing down a new damaged refer. I have a receipt for $864.00. They wouldn't write me a fake.
So what is the percentage on items like that?

$75 deduction for each person in the vehicle.
15% of the remainder.
For example 2 people in your vehicle, minus $150 from $864 leaves a "duty" amount of $714.

Last year i went to Sears in El Centro and bought a floor model Fridge. Tried to buy one in Mexicali but could not find a white only. It had some
scratches on the outside. I opened it and poured a little coke on one of the shelves. Drove thru the non declare line and got stopped. the guy looked
at the fridge in the back(did not open it) and waved us thru. I would have said it was used and not worth 150 if they had asked. (they didn't).

Lumber's dicey,
you're supposed to have a permit and a fumigation certificate for each species. Sometimes you can sneak small amounts through, I imported 3000bf of

For the expense of duty, wear 'n tear on you and your vehicle, not to mention your time, it's become easier and cost efficient to buy it here.

Thanks monoloco and Dennis. I met a guy hauling a forty foot trailer of large dimension wood (beams) from one of our local mills on his way to the
crossing at Mexicali. He said they had a Mexican trucking outfit that took it from there. I got his info and I'll have to dig it up.
