Mag Bay

A buddy and I want to visit the Mag Bay area on a road trip next year. We're primarily fishermen. We'd like to explore both the mangoves inside the bay as well as the offshore areas.
We were thinking about the Spring...March/April/May.
Any info on air and water conditions/temps; fishing opportunities; sources in the area would be appreciated.

I am pretty sure that fishing boats are not allowed in Mag Bay until whales go home.......better plan on late April,May for your trip..........

Are you headed to San Carlos or Lopez Mateos or both?
Are you in a camper, camping with tents, etc.?
Are you bringing a boat? What size?

Best fishing is Oct, Nov and Dec.

Whales leave around the end of March.

April and May are cool, damp and foggy.

Thanks
Quick look-see at San Carlos but mostly Lopez Mateos for exploring. We'll depend on locals for pangas, food and accomodations.
Have heard of Feliz Camerones, Reuben Duran, Saul ****** and a few other names/places to contact.
We'll avoid the damp/whales of Spring and juggle schedule for a Fall trip....thanks for that!
FYI...this is a seniors road trip...we're mid-60s...I know it won't be the same as when I camped here in August of '73.

The consensus for October / November fishing is spot on. I have a contact that we use as a guide to bring large sport fishers 60 foot plus up from San Carlos and exit out at Lopez Mateo. The route is treacherous and amazing. The following is the last contact info I have for him
Crispine Mendoza casa 613-13-60253 cell. 613-11-32732
His house is across from Los across restaurant on the Main Street in San Carlos
He is full of himself but he does know of what he speaks. He has a few pangas as well
Best of luck

Here's a contact web page... my son's school friend owns this and his parents operate it: http://www.magbayoutfitters.com/ Based out of Lopez Mateos and they have cabins on the island, 25 miles south of the ferry landing (across Mag Bay from Mateos).
